Speaking at the opening and reporting to the Forum "Trade Union members studying and following Uncle Ho to emulate good labor, high productivity, good income", Ms. Thai Thu Xuong said that after nearly a century of construction and growth, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnam Trade Union has always accompanied the nation, constantly innovating the content and methods of operation, affirming its role as the largest representative organization, a center for gathering and uniting the working class and laborers.
With nearly 10 million union members and more than 62,000 grassroots trade unions, trade union levels have actively cared for and protected the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers; improved the quality of dialogue and collective bargaining; participated in building policies and laws; effectively implemented many practical care programs for union members and workers.
One of the important spiritual motivations for the Trade Union organization to successfully complete its political tasks is that the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style has been widely deployed and is being studied and followed by a large number of officials, union members, and workers, not only stopping at "learning" but also concretizing it by "following" with appropriate and practical actions that go deeper, becoming a regular task of trade union levels and has strongly spread throughout union members, civil servants, public employees and workers nationwide.
Many good models and effective ways of doing things associated with studying and following Uncle Ho have been built, maintained, and replicated such as: "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space", "Workers' Month", "Tet Reunion", "Trade Union Home", "Trade Union Meal"...
In particular, from studying and following Uncle Ho, patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the movement "Good Labor, Creative Labor" were widely launched, strongly arousing the spirit of innovation and creativity among workers; creating millions of initiatives and technical improvements, contributing to improving labor productivity, production and business efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises both domestically and internationally.
However, before the requirements of rapid and sustainable development of the country, trade union activities and the workers' movement still face many difficulties and challenges.
The quality of the worker team is not uniform; the qualifications, professional skills, industrial style and discipline of a part of workers are still limited. The lives, jobs, income, and working conditions of many workers are still difficult; the capacity to represent and protect workers of a part of trade union officials has not fully met the requirements in the new situation" - Ms. Xuong said.
Entering a new era of development, our country continues to promote deep international integration, focusing on implementing the two-digit growth target in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress.
Practicing Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style; thoroughly grasping the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and the guiding viewpoints of the General Secretary at the 1st National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central Agencies, term 2025 - 2030 on "taking the People as the center, subject, goal and driving force of renovation", "shifting from formal movements to substantial results", requiring the Trade Union organization to continue to strongly innovate thinking and action; directing all activities to the grassroots level, taking union members and workers as the center; promoting the spirit of emulation for good labor, high productivity, and good income, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's development goals in the new period.
The Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor suggested a number of key issues for delegates to study, discuss and reflect more deeply on how to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style in trade union activities associated with promoting emulation movements among officials, union members, and workers to improve labor productivity, life, and income of each union member and worker.
First, it is necessary to concretize the criteria for studying and following Uncle Ho for each target group in a way that is easy to learn, easy to remember and easy to follow. The selection of content must be very specific, practical, avoiding generalization and formality, so that it can be widely and effectively implemented in trade union levels associated with the implementation of the emulation movement for good labor, high productivity, and good income.
Secondly, from good models and valuable experiences of trade union organizations and typical and outstanding individuals, it is necessary to actively spread the content of learning and following, with the desire that his ideology, ethics, and style continue to deeply penetrate from awareness to action and are always the daily self-needs of each cadre, union member, and worker.
Third, implementing his teachings about the lesson of "taking the people as the root", officials need to "respect the people, be close to the people, understand the people, learn from the people and be responsible to the people". From there, build a style of Trade Union officials who are always "close to the grassroots level, close to workers".
Accordingly, Trade Union officials must hear the voices of workers right at the production workshop, understand their worries in each boarding area to promptly advise on practical policies on salaries, housing and welfare.
With the above spirit, the team of Trade Union officials will become "ambassadors" bringing Uncle Ho's ideology closer to workers and laborers, thereby building trust. When workers and laborers see Trade Union officials appearing when they are most difficult, they will place their trust in their solid support, which is the Trade Union organization" - Ms. Thai Thu Xuong emphasized.
Fourth, the Trade Union must truly be an organization of workers, by workers and for workers. All trade union program and activity plans need to closely follow grassroots practices, originating from the thoughts, aspirations and legitimate desires of workers. Trade union levels need to continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, focusing on grassroots levels, especially paying attention to the non-state business sector; at the same time, continue to launch and organize practical patriotic emulation movements, attracting a large number of workers to contribute their intellect and strength to the development of the industry, locality and country.
Fifth, innovate propaganda methods through digital technology to bring his ideology, ethics, and style closer to direct production workers, helping brothers and sisters to be easy to listen to, easy to understand, easy to remember and easy to follow with the most specific and practical actions. With the desire that Ho Chi Minh's ideology becomes a part of daily life, helping workers to be confident, brave, enthusiastic to work, increase productivity, and have high incomes, contributing to the development of agencies and units and the sustainable development of the country.
From the above orientations, Standing Vice President of the General Confederation Thai Thu Xuong requested delegates to focus on in-depth discussion of key contents:
First, solutions to strongly shift from "learning" to "following" Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style through specific actions, practical results in labor, production, work and daily life of union members and workers; thereby arousing the spirit of responsibility, will to rise up, aspiration to contribute and cultural values of workers in the new era.
Second, apply studying and following Uncle Ho to innovate the content and methods of trade union activities in the direction of being close to grassroots levels, close to workers, taking union members and workers as the center; promote the role of representing, caring for, and protecting legitimate and lawful rights, and at the same time strongly promote the emulation movement for good labor, high productivity, and good income among workers.
Third, exchange and propose mechanisms and policies to make initiatives and technical improvements truly become a driving force to improve labor productivity, business efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises; ensure harmony of interests between enterprises and workers by linking labor productivity with wages, income, welfare and development opportunities; discover, nurture, honor and promptly replicate advanced examples, typical initiatives, and examples of good workers to spread positive values.
At the same time, clarifying the role of stakeholders in building a humane working environment, corporate culture, practicing thrift, improving working conditions and caring for workers' lives, creating a foundation for rapid and sustainable development.
