For many years, social housing has been one of the issues of concern to workers. Along with the need for a stable place to live, workers also want to have synchronous access to facilities serving life in the working and living areas.
The role of the Trade Union organization is not only reflected in receiving and reflecting legitimate recommendations but also as a bridge for the voices of union members and workers to be conveyed to the government and businesses. For example, for many years, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation has regularly organized dialogues between workers and leaders of Khanh Hoa province. From dialogues, care policies can be closer to actual needs, helping workers feel secure in working, improve their quality of life and be attached to businesses for a long time. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet - employee of Unicorp Logistics Co., Ltd. (Dien Phu Industrial Cluster) - assessed that the social housing development program is a very meaningful policy.
According to Ms. Nguyet, workers hope to soon know the deployment time as well as the application process to buy and rent social housing. This is a practical need for those who are working, living and want to be stable for a long time in the locality.
Besides housing, workers propose that the province synchronously invest in cultural and sports facilities, schools, kindergartens, and supermarkets to serve workers in industrial parks.
Mr. Tran Quang Ngoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction - said that the province is implementing 14 social housing projects under the Government's Project "Investing in building at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the period 2021 - 2030". Information about social housing registration subjects, conditions and procedures is widely publicized. About 80% of workers buying social housing have access to preferential loans with an interest rate of 5.4%/year.
At the same time, the province is reviewing land funds to develop worker dormitories associated with industrial park infrastructure.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - said that the need for stable housing is a legitimate desire of union members and workers. According to him, "having a stable residence means having a stable career", so housing development is always one of the important tasks to ensure social security, helping workers feel secure and stick with the business for a long time.
Currently, Khanh Hoa province is implementing 14 social housing projects, with an average price of about 22 million VND/m2. Social housing buyers have access to preferential credit policies, can borrow up to 80% of the apartment value with an interest rate of about 5.4%/year according to current regulations.
In the coming time, the province will continue to synchronously implement mechanisms and policies for socio-economic development associated with improving the quality of human resources, creating jobs; promoting vocational training, retraining and vocational conversion; developing social housing, cultural and sports facilities.
