Overcoming unfavorable weather
According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), from the beginning of May 2025, the rainy season will come nearly a month early, causing the construction site to continuously experience heavy rain, disrupting many items, especially underground works such as tuyel, drainage system, roadbed. Flooding, slippery conditions and difficulty in operating equipment also increase the risk of unsafety, forcing contractors to continuously adjust construction methods. Up to now, the weather has been more favorable and the engineer and worker forces have gradually overcome the most difficult period.
According to ACV, at the current construction site, the units are still maintaining the construction progress with hundreds of deployment teams, mobilizing nearly 14,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and nearly 3,000 construction equipment to speed up the progress with the goal of basically completing the project before December 19, 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026.
At Long Thanh airport project, package 5.10 for the construction of Long Thanh airport passenger terminal (under component project 3 of Long Thanh airport) is the most important project, deciding the progress of the entire Long Thanh airport project, phase 1. Therefore, the construction atmosphere is very urgent and serious, the units coordinate synchronously to sprint the progress.
Pride of female workers at Long Thanh airport
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu, Safety Supervisor of the elevator construction unit at Long Thanh airport's passenger terminal, has been working at the project since June 2025. Having participated in many projects, she said that traveling in the Long Thanh project was a bit difficult, but thanks to the support and close coordination between units, the work still went smoothly.
Ms. Thu expressed her pride in contributing to the construction of the national key project: " old progress is guaranteed, every day seeing the airport become clearer and more spacious makes me very touched and hopes the project will be put into operation soon".
Mr. Ngo Thanh Nghia - Commander of the elevator and escalator system construction at the Long Thanh airport passenger terminal also said: The construction is being urgently implemented, more than 50 workers are working overtime at night, working "three shifts and four shifts" closely following the plan on December 19.
According to the representative of the Joint Venture of Packages 5.10, the construction of the Long Thanh airport passenger terminal, thousands of experts, engineers, workers and laborers are being mobilized to urgently construct, constructing all day, constructing at night to ensure quality and progress of the project.
In addition to the Long Thanh airport project, construction workers at connecting traffic projects are also racing to complete the project on December 19.
The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 projects are national key projects connecting Long Thanh airport that are being implemented in Dong Nai province, aiming to open technical traffic before December 19, 2025.
Many other projects in Dong Nai province such as: Bien Hoa City Central Axis Road Construction Project; Dong Nai Riverside Road; Upgrading and expanding Provincial Road 25B are making efforts to complete technical traffic and inaugurate in December 2025.
The Long Thanh International Airport project is a national-level important project of the transport sector, planned to reach level 4F - the highest level according to ICAO standards. The project aims to become an air transit hub of the region, with a capacity of all 3 phases of up to 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year.
In phase 1, the project invests in 1 runway, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year, a cargo terminal with 1.2 million tons/year and synchronous auxiliary items.
