Initiative of Lao Dong Newspaper
First held in 2015, up to now, the program "Tet Sum Vay" has become an annual event and "brand" of the Trade Union organization every time Tet comes, creating a widespread effect in all levels of trade unions and the whole society, especially union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, before 2015, the organization of Tet care activities for union members and workers in the form of "events" was implemented at some grassroots unions, but there was no unified "name".
In order to meet practical requirements, continue to innovate the content and methods of operation according to the motto of focusing on the grassroots, at the grassroots, for union members and workers, diversify the forms of gathering union members and workers, Lao Dong Newspaper and Tam Long Vang Charity Fund have had the initiative and proposed to the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to organize "Tet Sum Vay" at the scale of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. And the first "Tet Sum Vay" program was organized on the occasion of the Lunar New Year At Mui 2015 in the capital Hanoi.
Since then, every year, based on the documents of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, policies and directions of local Party committees, authorities and units on activities to care for Tet for union members and workers, 100% of provincial and municipal Confederations of Labor, Central and equivalent Trade Unions, Trade Unions of Corporations under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and grassroots trade unions (localities and units) have organized activities to care for Tet and the "Tet Sum Vay" Program...
From 2015 to present, there have been 186,944 Programs organized at all levels of the Trade Union, attracting over 33 million cadres, union members, and employees to participate and receive gifts. At the Program, over 26.2 million union members and employees in difficult circumstances were cared for and given gifts with a total amount of over 10,617 billion VND, of which, mobilized from socialized sources was nearly 5,847 billion VND (accounting for 55%).
Has profound humanistic meaning
According to Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh, the "Tet Sum Vay" program is a practical activity with profound humanistic meaning, with the goal of better caring for and protecting the interests of union members and workers, bearing the strong mark of the Trade Union organization towards union members and workers.
“To achieve the above results, it is the determination and efforts of the trade union level, the attention of the Party, the State, authorities at all levels, agencies, organizations, units, enterprises and philanthropists who have joined hands, shared and accompanied the trade union organization to take care of union members and workers, thereby enhancing the position of the trade union organization in the socio-political system...” - Mr. Phan Van Anh commented.
According to the leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in the coming time, in order for the Program to continue to be effective in taking care of union members and workers on the occasion of Tet, it is necessary to have regular, consistent, timely direction from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to all levels of trade unions and always innovate and be creative in organizing activities in the Program to attract a large number of union members and workers to participate and increase the level of benefits for union members and workers.
Strengthen training, coaching, and knowledge and skills development for union officials working in the welfare of grassroots unions and grassroots unions in enterprises with a large number of union members and employees.
Along with that, promoting the "brand" advantage and the spread of the Program creates advantages to develop and expand the "Tet Sum Vay" Program in the coming period, contributing to increasingly better performing the representative and protection tasks of the Trade Union organization.
Mobilizing social resources and trade union finances strong enough to organize the Program, worthy of the tasks of the Trade Union organization in the new situation.
