Vietnam Trade and Industry Union launches Workers' Month 2026

On the morning of April 17, in Hai Phong, the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union launched Workers' Month, Action Month for Occupational Safety and Health in 2026.

Attending the program were Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

Speaking to direct the launching ceremony, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan emphasized that Workers' Month and Action Month on OSH are not only an opportunity to honor and express gratitude for the great contributions of the working class but also a time for trade union levels to focus on stronger actions in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.

To make the Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026 practically effective, the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour requested the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union to closely follow the theme to thoroughly grasp and specifically implement, in accordance with the situation of the industry and each unit, key activities including: "Creative workers, confidently step into the new era"; "May Dialogue"; Forum "Union members contribute ideas to build Vietnam Trade Unions in the new era", "Thank you workers"; "Labor Skills - Sustainable Employment Day"; Peak Month to promote the innovation movement, digital initiatives, improve labor productivity; Peak Month for developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions; introducing the development of party members and workers...

Trade union levels promote the activities of the workers' movement at the grassroots level; closely follow workers, firmly grasp their thoughts and aspirations, and promptly support difficult cases, especially direct production workers and workers working in heavy, hazardous, and dangerous environments. From there, promptly encourage and motivate trade union members and typical workers who have made many contributions to professional work and the workers' movement. Each activity in Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health must truly bring specific and practical benefits to workers, units and trade union organizations.

The Vietnam Industry and Trade Union continues to improve the quality of OSH work, considering this as a regular, continuous task and a common responsibility of the trade union organization, employers and each union member and employee. In addition, promote emulation movements for good labor and creative labor, so that workers in the Industry and Trade sector continue to be the pioneering and core force to promote their role in applying science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; improve labor productivity and product quality, contributing to the successful implementation of the development goals of the sector in the current economic development period...

At the launching ceremony, the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union organized the display of 23 booths for union member welfare and science and technology, innovation; presented gifts and directly supported 81 union members in difficult circumstances (2 million VND in cash and in-kind gifts worth 500,000 VND); awarded financial support for 7 Trade Union Warm Houses (50 million VND/house). At the same time, signed 9 cooperation agreements on union member welfare between the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union and partners inside and outside the Industry and Trade sector. The Vietnam Industry and Trade Union also rewarded 31 typical workers and 31 typical safety and hygiene workers; organized fire prevention and fighting and counter-terrorism drills.

Previously, in response to Workers' Month 2026, on April 11, the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union organized health check-ups and consultations for 250 workers at some units in Hai Phong; distributed 1,000 shopping vouchers worth 500,000 VND to 1,000 workers.

The Vietnam Trade and Industry Union will organize gifts for union members and workers in difficult circumstances, who have suffered labor accidents, and summarize Workers' Month 2026 in May and June. Through these activities, trade unions at all levels continue to affirm their pioneering role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights of workers, contributing to building a modern and strong working class in the period of integration.

At the launching ceremony of Workers' Month 2026, the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union and Lao Dong Newspaper signed the "Coordination Program to promote propaganda of trade union activities and care for and protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers in the Industry and Trade sector in the period 2026 - 2030".

In which, the 2 units coordinate to strengthen information and timely propaganda about the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, the regulations of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Ministry of Industry and Trade related to the fields of trade and industry; regimes and policies for officials, union members, and workers in the Industry and Trade sector. At the same time, reflect the activities of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union, the patriotic emulation movement and activities to care for and protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers in the sector.

Along with that, coordinate communication, mobilize businesses, organizations, individuals and philanthropists to participate in accompanying the implementation of social security activities, caring for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers of the Industry and Trade sector; coordinate to discover, introduce and spread good models and effective ways of doing things; commend patriotic emulation movements, typical advanced collectives and individuals in the team of officials, union members, and workers of the Industry and Trade sector.

The two sides coordinate to organize communication activities, seminars, forums, and events; build specialized pages and columns to propagate trade union activities, emulation movements and issues related to the Industry and Trade sector when necessary...
