The workshop was chaired by Tong Van Bang, Member of the Presidium, Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, with the participation of nearly 50 trade union officials from southern provinces and cities, Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, Vietnam Rubber Trade Union and scientists, experts in the field of occupational safety and health (ATVSLĐ).
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Tong Van Bang said that digital technology, artificial intelligence, and automation are changing production methods and labor organization. New job models are appearing more and more, with new and more recognizable risks.
Work pressure, stress, mental health problems, and occupational diseases in the digital environment are increasing. These changes show that OSH work cannot be approached in a traditional way, but requires strong innovation in thinking, methods and implementation tools.
For trade union organizations, the requirement for innovation is very clear, not only stopping at the role of propaganda and supervision, but trade unions need to be proactive and promote the application of digital technology in propaganda, training, supervision and risk warning, promoting the building of a labor safety culture, considering this as the foundation for sustainable development of businesses and society," Mr. Tong Van Bang emphasized.

According to Ms. Ho Thi Kim Ngan - Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - trade unions play a very important role, function, and task in occupational safety and health work. Over the past time, trade union levels have had many innovations in occupational safety and health work, especially the application of new technologies, digital transformation in this work, in which focusing on monitoring work accident data, monitoring the working environment, analyzing risks, early warning of risks of unsafety, receiving online feedback...
According to Ms. Ngan, the central task of the trade union in the coming time must be to focus on promoting digital transformation in OSH, improving capacity for trade union officials, modernizing the network of occupational safety and health workers, building OSH databases and promoting safety culture.

The workshop aims to identify new challenges for OSH work in the digital age; Clarify the role, responsibility and operating methods for OSH work of the Trade Union in the new context; Sharing experiences, good models, effective ways of doing things from practice, proposing solutions and recommendations to strongly innovate OSH work in the coming time.
