Helping workers have good health to stick with businesses and cities
Continuously from the beginning of July to mid-August 2026, every day hundreds of female workers of PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. were consulted on reproductive health and free cervical cancer screening through the "Health AI" program co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation.
Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, a worker at PouYuen Company - shared that she is very happy to receive in-depth examinations and advice on reproductive health for free. "Most women are happy because the trade union cares for their health, so they feel more attached to the trade union and the business," Ms. Nhung said.
Ms. Phan Thi My Hien - a worker at Phu Dinh Company - confided that through the free reproductive health check-up program organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, she was diagnosed early with abnormalities and was advised by doctors to have more in-depth examinations. "Thanks to being diagnosed early with abnormalities, I quickly went for a specialized health check-up at a specialized hospital, so I was also reassured," Ms. Hien said.
These are just two typical cases in the Health Care Program for 1 million workers organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation in coordination with the City Department of Health from May to the end of September 30. The program is organized flexibly right at enterprises, industrial parks, export processing zones or at qualified medical facilities and hospitals, prioritizing organization outside office hours, on Saturdays and Sundays to create the most favorable conditions for workers (NLĐ) to participate without affecting the income and production activities of enterprises.
Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - informed that the program prioritizes female union members, workers working in heavy and hazardous environments, people who have not had periodic health check-ups for 12 months, trade union members, workers in difficult circumstances, and direct production workers.
For the Trade Union organization, caring for workers is not only a responsibility but also a feeling, a mission of the organization representing the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers. We always determine that if we want workers to be assured and attached to businesses and the city, we must first help workers have good health, have conditions to live and work safely, stably and sustainably. The program also affirms the change in the mindset of health care for workers from medical examination when sick to disease prevention, early detection and continuous health management," Mr. Thai emphasized.
Helping workers have the opportunity to access high-quality art programs
Along with proactively promoting health care for union members and workers, the Ho Chi Minh City trade union organization also organizes many activities to care for the spiritual life of union members and workers' children.
The most typical example is that recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation coordinated with the Center for the Arts - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to implement a program to support ticket prices for the "Dream Show" performance from July 4 to September 2. "Dream Show" is an art program combining circus, puppetry, modern projection technology and multimedia stage art.
The program serves 21 performances with about 10,500 turns of union members, workers and children of union members and workers being supported, in which priority is given to families in difficult circumstances, workers in export processing zones, industrial parks, boarding houses and children overcoming difficulties to study well.
With ticket prices ranging from 350,000 VND to 700,000 VND, each ticket is supported by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation with 150,000 VND, the rest is supported by the Art Center, helping workers and children have the opportunity to access a high-quality art program. The program contributes to nurturing the soul, arousing imagination, nurturing dreams for children, and at the same time continuing to affirm the practical concern and care of the Trade Union organization for the material and spiritual life of union members, workers and families.
Among the 16 annual striving targets set out in the resolution of the first Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union Congress for the term 2026 - 2031, there are targets such as organizing at least 5-6 contests and performances on culture, arts, sports, at cultural venues or places with a large concentration of workers; annually at least 30,000 trade union members are consulted and have free health check-ups from trade union financial sources, of which at least 15,000 are female union members.
