Establish grassroots trade unions as soon as businesses stabilize production
The number of union members actually increased in the first 6 months of the year, reaching 28,303 people, equivalent to 47% of the union member development target for 2026. Many units exceeded the target for establishing grassroots trade unions such as the Industrial Zone Trade Union Board, Trade Unions of wards: Hong An, Le Chan, Ngo Quyen, Thuy Nguyen, Phu Lien, Le Thanh Nghi, Gia Phuc Commune Trade Union, Tien Lang...
Recently, the Tien Lang Commune Trade Union mobilized to establish 2 grassroots trade unions: Hai Dang Trading and Construction Joint Stock Company with 44 members, and Ky Y Co., Ltd.'s grassroots trade union with 79 members.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - Chairwoman of Tien Lang Commune Trade Union - said that developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions at enterprises is a key task that Tien Lang Commune Trade Union has focused on implementing. Up to now, the unit has propagated and mobilized the establishment of 7/6 grassroots trade unions, exceeding the target assigned by Hai Phong City Labor Federation in 2026.
In industrial parks, many grassroots trade unions were established immediately after the enterprise stabilized production. Typically, at Orderaar Development Co., Ltd., specializing in producing footwear. The company has been operating stably in VSIP Hai Phong Industrial Park since March 2026 with 96 employees. From the aspirations of the enterprise's leadership as well as the collective of employees, in May, the Steering Committee for establishing grassroots trade unions was established, organizing many propaganda sessions, disseminating about the rights and obligations of union members; the role of the Trade Union organization in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of employees. As a result, 96 employees voluntarily wrote applications to join the Vietnam Trade Union organization, reaching a rate of 100%.
At Vietnam Innova Co., Ltd., the grassroots trade union was established only 2 months after the company went into operation, in the trial operation phase. The early establishment of the Trade Union organization shows the enterprise's determination to build a harmonious working environment, accompanying employees in the development process.
Mr. Peng Guo Zong - Deputy Director of the company - said that the company is committed to accompanying and creating favorable conditions for trade unions to operate effectively, thereby building a harmonious and stable working environment, ensuring workers' rights and towards sustainable development.
Striving to complete the target of developing 60,000 union members
Right from the beginning of the year, Hai Phong City Labor Federation issued a plan, assigned targets for developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions and introducing outstanding union members to the Party for consideration and admission. Units were required to review sources from business and labor data provided by the City Social Insurance; and at the same time promote propaganda and mobilize workers to join the Vietnam Trade Union.
Trade union levels also effectively implemented the peak month of union member development, establishing grassroots trade unions; focusing on approaching non-state sector enterprises, enterprises with many workers and eligible to establish trade union organizations.
From now until the end of the year, Hai Phong City Labor Federation continues to set a target of developing at least 60,000 new union members, linking union member development with improving the quality of grassroots trade union activities, especially in the non-state business sector.
