Trade unions support the development of professional capacity of civil servants and employees

The 38th Annual Conference of the Trade Union of Cluster 5 Universities has just taken place with the participation of Party Committee leaders, Board of Directors, and Trade Union Executive Committee.

The cluster of 5 universities (G5) includes: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, University of Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities and National Economics University (under the Vietnam Education Union).

National Economics University is the host unit for this year's conference with the theme: "The role of Trade Unions in developing the professional capacity of lecturers and administrative staff at higher education institutions in the context of autonomy, digital transformation and international integration".

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Dr. Nguyen Huu Dong - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Trade Union of the National Economics University - emphasized the role of the trade union organization in accompanying the school to improve the quality of staff, adapting to the requirements of university governance innovation and digital transformation.

The highlight of the conference was 5 presentations from schools in the G5 Cluster, reflecting diverse approaches to improve professional capacity for staff, lecturers and public employees.

National Economics University shares experiences in promoting the role of trade unions in developing high-quality human resources associated with the university autonomy process.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology introduces a model for building a health and happiness care ecosystem for officials and lecturers in the direction of Healthy University (a university is a comprehensive health care ecosystem), considering this as a foundation to improve labor quality and professional efficiency.

University of Science presents solutions to accompany the team in building smart universities, promoting digital transformation and developing professional capacity.

The Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities presented a paper with the theme "The companion role of trade unions and authorities in improving the capacity of trade union members - looking from the departmental trade union model" which attracted the attention of delegates.

From practical operations, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has implemented many practical models such as supporting international scientific publications, organizing digital and AI capacity training programs, expanding cooperation with international partners, and launching many social and charitable activities to build a humane and connected working environment...

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hong Son - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - emphasized that the trade union has well coordinated closely with the government to create a safe, stable working environment and create motivation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hong Son said that when officials and lecturers are cared for in terms of both mental and physical health and career development opportunities, they will be assured to contribute, thereby improving the quality of training, scientific research and serving society.

Many other opinions also proposed strengthening links between trade unions in the G5 Cluster to share experiences, coordinate the organization of professional training programs, digital transformation and skills development for officials and lecturers in the face of increasingly high requirements of higher education.

At the end of the conference, the Trade Union of the National Economics University handed over the flag of hosting the 39th Annual Conference of the G5 Cluster Trade Union to the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In addition to the conference program, Trade Union delegates of G5 Cluster participated in a series of activities to return to the source in Quang Tri province, towards the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026).
