Hanoi City Trade Union admits 123,666 new members

In 2024, one of the outstanding activities of the Hanoi City Labor Federation is to develop union members and establish grassroots unions.

855/492 trade unions were established, reaching 173.8% of the plan.

On December 26, the Hanoi City Labor Confederation held a meeting to summarize the labor movement and trade union activities in 2024; deploy tasks and launch emulation in 2025. Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu attended.

In 2024, the Capital's Trade Unions at all levels will focus resources on developing union members and establishing grassroots unions with many drastic solutions in implementation. The results in 2024 include the establishment of 855/492 new grassroots unions, reaching 173.8% of the plan, and the admission of 123,666/152,200 new union members, reaching 81.2% of the plan; developing 46 unions with 8,100 union members in the informal labor sector; bringing the total number of grassroots unions in the city to 9,898 and the total number of union members to 781,268. Other targets also met and exceeded the set plan, such as the establishment of 374/241 grassroots unions of enterprises with 25 or more employees, reaching 155.2% of the plan; establishing grassroots unions according to new methods, reaching 163.1% of the plan...

Discussing the experience of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions - one of the activities that achieved many results of the Hanoi Union at all levels - Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh - President of the Labor Federation of Phuc Tho district - emphasized that it is necessary to do a good job of taking care of employees, especially in enterprises that do not have a union organization and pay union fees; direct the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of grassroots unions to proactively strengthen the inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies for union members and employees; promptly make recommendations, proposals, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members and employees. From there, employees see the role of the union organization and voluntarily apply to join the union organization.

Currently, the Phuc Tho District Labor Federation manages 168 grassroots unions, an increase of 4 grassroots unions compared to 2023, with a total of 5,600 union members. Of which, the State sector has 106 grassroots unions with 4,301 union members, accounting for 76.8%; non-State enterprises have 61 grassroots unions with 1,299 union members, accounting for 23.2% of the total number of union members...

Strive for over 90% of union officials to receive training in union work.

Implementing the 2025 working theme "Focusing on developing union members; participating in building a clean and strong Party" of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and "Discipline, responsibility, action, creativity, development" of Hanoi City, the City Confederation of Labor sets a number of targets.

In particular, strive for over 90% of union officials to be trained and fostered in trade union skills and expertise; 100% of union chairmen participating for the first time to be trained and fostered in an appropriate form. 100% of implementing units complete and exceed the estimated targets of union financial revenue and expenditure; 100% of unions at the level directly above the grassroots level conduct financial inspections at the same level on schedule and at least 10% of enterprise union branches are inspected and supervised by the higher-level unions regarding union finances; 100% of union branches make annual financial disclosure...

On this occasion, the Cau Giay District Labor Federation and Mr. Le Dinh Hung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Permanent Vice President of the Hanoi City Labor Federation received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded Emulation Flags to 10 collectives and Certificates of Merit to 7 collectives with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement for good workers and building a strong Trade Union organization in 2024.
