On September 14, a delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) led by Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan - Vice President of the VGCL visited and presented gifts to support union members, workers and civil servants in Cao Bang province who suffered losses due to storm No. 3.
On the local side, there were leaders: Mr. Ha Ngoc Giap - Head of Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization, Mr. Be Thanh Tinh - Head of Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda.
On this occasion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor donated 500 million VND to support union members and workers in Cao Bang province who suffered losses; the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor donated 300 million VND to the province to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
The delegation also visited and presented gifts to families of victims who died or had their houses damaged by natural disasters in Cao Bang city and Nguyen Binh district, with gifts worth over 30 million VND; and provided 40 million VND in support of the construction of a "Union Shelter" for union member Nong Thi Hoi and union member Chu Trinh Kindergarten.
Due to the impact of storm No. 3, up to now, the whole Cao Bang province has recorded 52 deaths, 15 injuries, 5 missing people (including 2 teachers who died due to landslides in Nguyen Binh district); 1,740 houses were damaged, 1,885.2 hectares of rice and crops were flooded, broken, buried, 2,621 points on national highways, provincial roads, district roads, and communal roads were blocked due to landslides, floods, ... estimated property damage of about 110 billion VND.
Of these, 474 union members and their families suffered property and crop damage; 65 union members suffered severe damage to their homes, with total estimated damage of over 18 billion VND.
