Tet bonus increased slightly
On the morning of December 24, informing Lao Dong, Ms. Doan Le Thuong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Synztec Co., Ltd. (Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong) - said that the company has just announced a Lunar New Year bonus for employees at the rate of 2.5 months of basic salary/person (about 13 million VND).
“Compared to 2024, this year's Lunar New Year bonus will increase slightly from 2.3 months' salary to 2.5 months' salary. In addition to the Tet bonus, the company and the union also organize activities and give many Tet gifts to union members and employees, so that employees can work with peace of mind and prepare to welcome a happy and warm Tet holiday,” said Ms. Thuong.
Aichi Tokei Co., Ltd. (Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong) currently creates jobs for 249 workers with an average salary of 8 million VND/person. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Chairman of the company's Trade Union, this year, the company will give a Tet bonus of 1.5 months' salary to workers who have worked for 12 months, and 1 month's salary to workers who have worked for less than 12 months. This Tet bonus has been maintained by the company for many years along with Tet gifts for workers, especially those in difficult circumstances.
According to information from the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union, by the evening of December 23, 142 grassroots trade unions had reported on Tet bonuses as well as the employment situation of employees.
“Enterprises still maintain the results of no employees owing wages or social insurance. Employees’ jobs are basically stable with an average income of nearly 10.8 million VND/month. Although last year, many enterprises suffered heavy losses due to storm No. 3, with preliminary losses of 2,639 billion VND, enterprises still strive to restore production, ensure salaries and Tet bonuses for employees. Statistics up to December 23, the average New Year bonus is 565,000 VND/person, the average Lunar New Year bonus is 1.15 months’ salary/person. The Zone’s Trade Union also requires units to promptly publicize the bonus payment time and Tet holiday schedule so that employees know and can work with peace of mind,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union.
Stabilize workers' mindset before, during and after Tet
In addition to the Tet bonus of enterprises, the Trade Union of the Zone directs grassroots trade unions to base on existing resources to pay Tet gifts and Tet allowances to employees in the spirit of spending at a level equal to or higher than the Tet spending level in 2024, ensuring that all union members have Tet. On the side of the Trade Union of Hai Phong Economic Zone, it will subsidize, give gifts, and support bus tickets for 17,000 union members and employees in difficult circumstances in distant provinces to return home for Tet.
Along with bonuses, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union is also directing grassroots trade unions to join with businesses in developing plans to adjust wages and internal welfare policies according to the city's 2024 CPI from January 1, 2025.
Up to now, according to statistics, businesses expect an average adjustment of 4.8% (VND 284,000), raising the average minimum wage at businesses by more than VND 6 million. Regarding employment, 77% of businesses in industrial parks currently have stable orders, ensuring regular employment for employees. After Tet, 13% of businesses predict an increase in orders, 66% of orders are stable, the rest have decreased orders (less than 30%) compared to before Tet.
Currently, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union is continuing to grasp the ideological situation of workers before, during and after Tet; promptly coordinate to resolve, especially the recommendations and problems of workers related to wages, Tet bonuses, and Tet holidays.
In addition, the Trade Union of the Zone directed the grassroots trade union to organize Tet reunion activities, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, encouraging the spirit of union members and workers after a year of hard work as well as connecting workers with the trade union and enterprises, stabilizing labor before and after Tet.
