Workers find it difficult to accumulate and save

Many workers said that in 2025, their income is only enough to cover daily living expenses, and it is very difficult to save money.

Ms. Tran Thi Hien (worker in Thang Long Industrial Park) is currently renting a room in Nhue village, Thien Loc commune, Hanoi City. Ms. Hien said that in 2025, her average monthly income is about 14-16 million VND. The basic salary of female workers is 6 million VND/month. To have the above total income, she has to work extra and have additional allowances. Her husband works as a freelancer, with unstable income.

Ms. Tran Thi Hien listed the expenses of the whole family in the month: Tuition for two children: 5 million VND; milk money: 2 million VND; family meal money: 5 million VND; rent: 1.5 million VND; gasoline and travel expenses... Besides, there are other arising expenses when sick and ill. Thus, it is calculated that all her monthly income has been spent.

In the month, if no one in the whole family is sick, I can still save a little money" - Ms. Hien shared. Reviewing the year, Ms. Hien said that she has hardly saved any significant amount.

In Bac Ninh, Ms. Le Thi Huyen (a worker at an electronics company) said that in 2025, she has a basic salary of 5.5 million VND/month with allowances of more than 1 million VND/month. If she works overtime a lot, she will receive an additional 2 million VND/month. She is also paid a few hundred thousand VND for lunch meals (workers who do not eat lunch meals will be paid by the company).

Calculating, my total monthly income is less than 10 million VND. In some months without overtime, my income is only about 6-7 million VND. My total annual income is only about 100 million VND" - Ms. Huyen said.

Ms. Huyen's husband is also a worker, with lower income than her. Every month, the couple has to spend a lot of money. Her eldest child is studying at a university majoring in information technology, each month she has to send her child 12-13 million VND. Having her own house, without paying rent, but every month she still has to pay a lot of money. She calculated: Meal expenses for the whole family: 4 million VND; electricity bill: 500 thousand VND; Internet bill: 200 thousand VND; gasoline and travel expenses...

If she spends sparingly, her and her husband's income is just enough. There are months when she runs out of money, she has to ask her parents for support. "Recalculating myself, I can't save any money in 2025" - Ms. Huyen admitted. The female worker shared that if she gets sick, she will rely on health insurance, as well as manage later. Ms. Huyen hopes that her basic salary will increase to more than 6 million VND/month to improve part of her family's life.

The chairman of a grassroots trade union of a garment manufacturing company in Bac Ninh province said that the average monthly income of the company's workers in 2025 is 12-13 million VND. "This amount includes basic salary, allowances, and overtime" - the chairman of the grassroots trade union shared. Accordingly, the lowest basic salary for workers is more than 6 million VND/month, and the highest is nearly 7 million VND/month. This basic salary is calculated according to the skill level of the worker.

According to trade union officials, the income of workers in enterprises is slightly higher than that of workers working at electronics enterprises. With this income level, the trade union president said that workers' spending savings will be temporarily stable, making it very difficult to accumulate and save.
