On July 24, the Management Board of Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone coordinated with the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation to organize the Opening Ceremony of the Traditional Sports Tournament of Southeast Economic Zone and Industrial Parks of Nghe An province in 2026.
Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; Mr. Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation and representatives of departments, branches, and businesses.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Loi - Deputy Head of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone Management Board, Standing Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament - said that the tournament is organized in an atmosphere towards the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026) and the 19th anniversary of the establishment of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone Management Board (August 30, 2007 - August 30, 2026).
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Loi, for workers in economic zones and industrial parks, traditional sports tournaments are not only a sports playground but have become an annually anticipated festival, contributing to improving cultural and spiritual life, strengthening exchanges and connections between workers and businesses.
This year's tournament gathers 61 teams with nearly 900 athletes from businesses in the Southeast Economic Zone and industrial parks of the province, competing in 3 events including men's football, women's football and tug-of-war.
The matches take place from July 24, expected to last until August 20, 2026 at two industrial park clusters, creating favorable conditions for units to participate in competitions and cheers.
The Organizing Committee expects the tournament to continue to spread the spirit of solidarity and health training among workers; contributing to building a healthy cultural life, harmonious and stable labor relations in enterprises, thereby creating a foundation for the sustainable development of enterprises and the investment environment of Nghe An province.
The Organizing Committee also requested the athletes to compete with a spirit of solidarity, honesty, and nobility; the refereeing team to operate fairly and in accordance with the law; the fans to cheer civilizedly, contributing to making the tournament truly become a festival for workers.
