On March 17, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour issued a plan to organize activities for Workers' Month 2026.
Accordingly, the activities of Workers' Month 2026 are organized in conjunction with the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1st to further affirm the position, role and historical mission of the Vietnamese working class; thereby promoting the concern and responsibility of the entire political system, the business community and the whole society in caring for and building an increasingly modern and strong working class.
Through the activities of Workers' Month 2026 to strengthen class solidarity, consolidate the belief and attachment of union members and workers to the Party, State, and Trade Union organization; arouse the aspiration to contribute, promote the pioneering role, sense of responsibility, and innovation capacity of union members and workers in production labor, contributing to improving labor productivity, making important contributions to the completion of socio-economic development goals and targets of the sector, localities and the whole country in 2026.
The target is to strive for 70% of enterprises with 100 or more employees to implement at least 1 activity in response to Workers' Month 2026, which is spread in the press and media; strive for 10% of union members and workers to participate in proposing initiatives, technical improvements, and solutions to improve labor productivity; of which at least 30% of initiatives are applied in practice at agencies, units, and enterprises.
Activities required to be focused on by Trade Union levels include: Organizing the "May Dialogue" Program and the "Union Members Contributing Opinions to Building Vietnam Trade Unions in the New Era" Forum; organizing the "Thank you to Workers" Program and caring for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers; organizing the "Labor Skills - Sustainable Employment" Day; organizing the Peak Month to promote the innovation movement, digital initiatives, and improve labor productivity; organizing the Peak Month for developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions; introducing the development of party members and workers; organizing the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1st and propaganda about the working class and trade union organizations.
The General Confederation will coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant agencies to organize the Launching Ceremony of Workers' Month - Action Month on occupational safety and health in 2026; organize the Ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day; commend outstanding and typical grassroots trade union presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation work. Organize a preliminary review of 5 years of implementing Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW, dated May 18, 2021 on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 of the 12th Politburo on promoting studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style; commend advanced examples of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style in the period 2023-2025. Organize the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament in 2026.
