Ms. Bui Thi Cap (born in 1978) - a worker at Vietnam Pearl Company Limited - had bright eyes on the day the Khanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL) came to inspect and hand over the house to her and her husband.
After 24 years of marriage, for the first time, Ms. Cap and her husband have their own room, truly happy, thanks to financial support from the Khanh Hoa Trade Union Social Fund under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation.
Mr. Tran Thanh Truc - Ms. Cap's husband - shared that they both worked as workers at the Vietnam Pearl Company and got married in 2000. After saving up for a while, Mr. Truc and Ms. Cap bought a piece of land of nearly 180 square meters in Quang Phuoc village, Van Luong commune, Van Ninh district. In 2011, the couple borrowed money and with the support of both families, built a small house of 40 square meters.
In 2017, storm No. 12 hit Khanh Hoa, and the entire house of Mr. Truc and his wife was destroyed by the storm. “At that time, my husband and I could only cry. Then, with the support of 3 million VND and the help of many people, we built a temporary house to live in. As our 2 children grew up, the house was cramped and we did not have a separate room, but we were so busy raising our children and sending them to school that we did not dare to dream of building a house,” Mr. Truc confided.
This year, Mr. Truc's eldest daughter has graduated from school, and the second child is in 10th grade. The burden is somewhat reduced, so Mr. Phuc and his wife are thinking about repairing the house because they see a storm coming, afraid it will collapse like last year.
Mr. Truc said: “At that time, I met the president of the Union to share my wishes and asked him to advise me if my husband and I were eligible to apply for financial support to build a warm house. The Union gave advice and then came to survey the house and saw that it was very dilapidated. The day we received the news that we would receive 60 million VND in support, my husband and I could not sleep because we were so happy.”
Having been married for 24 years, the day of moving into a new house is the dream of Mr. Truc and his wife. Without the 60 million VND support from the fund, the house would not be spacious, with 3 rooms for the children, giving the couple their own room for true happiness. Now they can work with peace of mind, and are not afraid of storms anymore" - Mr. Truc said excitedly.
Sharing the joy of the new home with the family of workers Bui Thi Cap - Tran Thanh Truc, Mr. Phan Thanh Liem - Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation hopes that the new home will motivate the couple to strive even harder in their work.
According to Mr. Liem, the Trade Union Shelter program has been spreading to many union members in mountainous districts, Nha Trang city, Cam Ranh to Van Ninh district, Ninh Hoa and especially workers in Industrial Parks and Industrial Clusters throughout the province.
Since the beginning, Khanh Hoa Trade Union at all levels has supported funding, built new houses and repaired 39 houses, with a total cost of nearly 2 billion VND, helping many families have stable housing and union members feel secure at work.
