On May 26, Ms. Vo Thi Tam - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Haivina Hong Linh Garment Company - said that the company currently has 1,300 workers. The company is implementing a mid-shift meal (lunch) regime for employees with an average of 25,000 VND per meal.
Every week, have an improved meal at a cost of more than 30,000 VND, including adding more food and adding ice cream to cool it down.
"The chef changes the dishes to avoid boredom. The company focuses on ensuring safety and hygiene. The company has also just invested in a refrigerator worth more than 100 million VND for workers to drink during the hot season to ensure their health. This May, the company also organized 2 periodic health check-ups for nearly 1,000 workers" - Ms. Tam shared.
According to Mr. Dang Viet Thuc - Director of Ha Tinh 10 Garment Enterprise - the factory currently has more than 400 workers. Currently, in the hot season, in addition to focusing on ensuring nutrition and constantly changing dishes during the mid shift meal for workers, the company also spends 150,000 VND/person/month for workers to proactively buy ice cream, buy soft drinks, cool water... to drink to maintain their health.
With the view that workers are the most valuable asset of the enterprise, we must focus on ensuring their rights and health, so that they can stick with, contribute, and work long-term with the company - Mr. Thu shared.
Ensuring working conditions
According to the Chairman of the Trade Union of Haivina Hong Linh Garment Company, during this hot season, the company has purchased and equipped about 200 more personal fans (1 fan at the garment table per person) for newly recruited workers.
At the cafeteria, the company invested in many large trees worth about 100 million VND. The company also changes workers' uniforms to other fabric to wear coolly in the summer, installs insulation curtains to ensure the factory is cool when workers work.
Nghe Tinh Fiber Factory (in Hong Linh Town) has also just invested a large amount of money in equipping cooling equipment such as: ventilation fans, air conditioners, large-capacity humidity regulators. Thanks to that, ensuring a cool working environment in the summer, workers are less afraid of the hot sun and work more effectively.
Ms. Pham Thi Thu Huong - Chairwoman of the Hong Linh Town Labor Federation - affirmed that in general, businesses in Hong Linh Town provide good mid-shift meals for union members and workers. Enterprises also focus on improving working conditions, equipping cooling equipment during the summer to ensure the health of employees, salary and bonus regimes so that employees can work with peace of mind.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thach - Chairman of the Trade Union of Economic Zones of Ha Tinh province - informed that the unit has just launched a program to improve the quality of shift meals for union members and workers.
In recent times, the Trade Union of Ha Tinh Economic Zones has worked with enterprises, directing each Trade Union to proactively negotiate and negotiate with employers to improve the quality of shift meals for workers.
