Dialogue to protect female workers

Recently, at International Medical Consulting Company Limited (Hanoi), a dialogue session on the content of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of female workers took place, chaired by Mr. Ha Hong Phuc - Deputy General Director and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van - Chairman of the company's Trade Union.

Through the process of collecting opinions from employees, the company's Union has compiled and proposed the following contents: Proposing a support level for employees raising children under 6 years old. The proposed support level is 200,000 VND/month/child; Organizing training courses on health care, beauty, soft skills... for female employees once a year; Having a policy to support paying health insurance/social insurance for 6 months for female employees with serious illnesses or long-term treatment and having to stay at home; In addition to organizing periodic obstetrics and gynecology examinations for female employees once a year, examining some specialized indicators for women such as thyroid ultrasound, cancer screening...

When making these proposals, the company's Trade Union Executive Committee provided very convincing grounds and arguments. For example, with the proposal to have a policy to support 6-month social insurance/health insurance payments for female employees with serious illnesses or long-term treatment who have to stay home, the company's Trade Union analyzed that there are cases where female employees have to undergo long-term medical treatment, have difficulties with family living expenses and raising young children. Employees at this time are in great need of financial support. If the company has a policy to pay social insurance/health insurance for employees during this period of leave, it will be a great encouragement, creating trust and a desire to stay with the employees...

After a frank and open discussion, the two sides agreed on the content of the dialogue and implementation measures. Accordingly, the proposed level of support for employees raising children under 6 years old is 100,000 VND/month/child; Organizing training courses on health care, beauty, soft skills... for female employees once a year; Having a reasonable job arrangement policy to support 6-month social insurance/health insurance payments for female employees with serious illnesses or long-term treatment who have to stay at home; Buying Bao Viet health insurance for female employees who have been with the company for more than 5 years depending on their job position...

This is a pilot activity "Representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of female workers through dialogue at the workplace" coordinated by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
