Despite having a workforce of more than 2.4 million people, businesses in Dong Nai province are still "thirsty" for labor when recruiting.

The demand for labor recruitment in the garment - footwear industry accounts for nearly 35%

The new Dong Nai province after the merger of Dong Nai (old) and Binh Phuoc (old) has more than 2.4 million workers. According to the report of the Employment Service Center, recently in Dong Nai province, 5,657 enterprises registered to recruit 139,331 workers. In particular, the Long Thanh Airport Project is preparing to operate and neighboring supporting industries attract a large number of high-quality human resources.

According to the provincial Department of Home Affairs, Long Thanh International Airport is expected to officially come into operation in 2026, along with the formation of Long Thanh Airport Urban Area and Free Trade Zone, which are considered the core development drivers of the province in the coming period. It is forecasted that the demand for labor recruitment in the whole province in the coming time will need about 55,000 workers, especially in the fields of industry, construction, services and logistics.

According to statistics, the demand for labor recruitment is divided into occupational groups.

Of which, the garment - footwear industry accounts for nearly 35%, the wood processing industry accounts for more than 26%, the electricity - refrigeration - electronics - electronics and electronics industry accounts for more than 11% and the service - logistics - logistics industry accounts for more than 7%...

High-tech labor shortage is still common

According to the Department of Home Affairs of Dong Nai province, the current shortage of high-tech labor is still common. Especially for high-tech industries, software engineers, automation, robot control, supply chain management.

In recent times, although the supply of workers with degrees and certificates in the province has increased significantly, the quality and practical skills of workers have not been uniform, and their ability to adapt to the actual working environment is still limited.

Meanwhile, the labor shortage in industrial parks in the final period of 2025 is estimated at about 35,621 people, mainly concentrated in the group of technical workers and skilled workers. High-quality labor resources have not yet met the development requirements of high-tech industries, especially digital transformation, semiconductor microchip technology, automation, etc.

According to the provincial Department of Home Affairs, in general, the gap between labor supply and demand in the province is still large, especially in the group of technical workers and highly skilled workers.

To develop high-quality human resources, Dong Nai University is being invested in and upgraded to become a high-quality human resource training center in the Southeast region; each year training about 8,000 students; Dong Nai province has signed cooperation agreements with universities in the area and Ho Chi Minh City in the fields of AI, automation, logistics, and smart urban management.

According to Mr. Mai Xuan Tan - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Dong Nai province, to meet the needs of socio-economic development and the requirements for human resources in the new period, the province needs to focus on developing high-quality human resources in many fields. In particular, it is necessary to synchronously deploy key solutions, including: Continuing to promote the cooperation model of "Schools, Enterprises, State" in training, internship and recruitment; Developing vocational training centers associated with industrial parks and high-tech zones; Deploying the model of "Schools in enterprises, Enterprises in schools"; promoting comprehensive digital transformation in management, teaching and assessment.

Promote the operation of job exchanges, strengthen coordination with localities through the system of job collaborators in 95 communes and wards in the province.
