Hundreds of workers absent without permission
Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor said that, regarding the situation of union members and employees returning to work after Tet, up to now, 678,937/699,935 union members and employees have returned to work, reaching a rate of 97%. The number of employees on maternity leave is 8,916 people; sick leave is 2,132 people; the rest are on personal leave and extended annual leave; the administrative sector alone reached 100%.
However, according to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters from grassroots unions, currently at some enterprises after Tet holiday, hundreds of workers have not returned to work at the factory.
The union chairman at a company in Nhon Trach 1 Industrial Park, Nhon Trach district, with about 8,000 union members, said that in the first working days of 2025 after the Lunar New Year holiday, more than 400 workers were absent without permission.
"Employees who take many unauthorized leaves will likely quit their jobs, while currently recruiting workers is very difficult," said a representative of this unit.
Similarly, a shoe company with over 6,000 employees in Suoi Tre Industrial Park, Long Khanh City - is also "running around" to recruit about 600 more workers to make up for the number of workers who do not return to work after Tet.
The union representative of this company shared that recently, because all salaries had been advanced, about 600 workers did not return to work after the Tet holiday.
In 2025, Dong Nai will need tens of thousands of workers, but recruitment sources are scarce. After Tet, businesses are recruiting heavily, but applications are few, and many places are facing a shortage of hundreds of workers.
Authorities forecast the labor demand in 2025 in Dong Nai province to be more than 75,000 people, concentrated in key areas such as Bien Hoa city (18,500 people), Nhon Trach district (17,500 people), Trang Bom district (more than 9,000 people)... Of the demand for 75,000 workers, the demand for untrained labor is nearly 55,000 people.
Demand is high but businesses can only recruit "dripping"
According to the reporter, right after the Lunar New Year holiday, a series of enterprises in Dong Nai stepped up recruitment of workers in large numbers to serve the expansion of new orders. However, enterprises could only recruit "drippingly". Some enterprises even had to proactively distribute leaflets in the wards and communes in the area where the factory is located and neighboring districts to recruit more workers.
According to statistics from the Dong Nai Province Employment Service Center, in terms of job recruitment needs after Tet, from February 1 to February 6, businesses need to recruit more than 5,500 workers, most of whom are unskilled workers (more than 5,200 people).
Recruitment needs are concentrated in three main industries: Sewing, embroidery - leather shoes - textile dyeing - fashion design (2,984 workers); electricity - electronics - refrigeration - electronic assembly - automation (1,356 workers) and construction - architecture - wood - interior decoration, building materials (976 workers).
Enterprises recruiting large numbers of workers such as Elite Long Thanh Company Limited (specializing in Adidas sportswear manufacturing) located in Loc An Industrial Park (Long Thanh district) need to recruit 1,800 workers, of which 1,700 are unskilled workers with salaries ranging from 7.2 - 15 million VND/person/month (depending on working capacity).
In addition, Jands Footwear Company Limited (Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City) recruited 500 unskilled workers, Topband Smart Vietnam Company Limited (Loc An Industrial Park, Long Thanh District) also recruited 1,000 unskilled workers.
To attract workers, businesses also offer many attractive policies such as Dong Phu Cuong Joint Stock Company (Dinh Quan district) recruiting 300 garment workers and offering a bonus of 300,000 - 500,000 VND/application for referrals; CiBao Company Limited (Suoi Tre Industrial Park, Long Khanh City) urgently recruiting 1,000 unskilled workers, with a total income of 8.5 million VND/month or more, with a referral bonus of 2.4 - 3.6 million VND...
