Talking to the delegation about the movement of workers and trade unions of Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the VGCL Huynh Thanh Xuan said that the Vietnamese Trade Union has actively implemented and achieved many important results in performing the task of representing, taking care of and protecting union members and workers. In which effective participation in the formulation of legal policies related to labor such as the Law on Social Insurance, Employment Law, Housing Law and Trade Union Law.
The representative of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor effectively performed its role as a member of the National Wage Council, successfully negotiated the increase in regional minimum wages in the 2018 - 2023 term with an increase of 23%, and continued to increase by 6% from July 1, 2024.

Focus on dialogue, collective bargaining, increase quantity, focus on wages, bonuses, working hours, rest hours, occupational safety and hygiene, build harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations.
In the period from 2019 to 2024, 18,037 new Collective Labor Agreements were signed (10 times higher than the period 2013-2018). To date, 48,603 Collective Labor Agreements have been signed, reaching a rate of nearly 73% of the total number of enterprises that have established grassroots unions (an increase of 6.38% compared to 2019) with a coverage of more than 6.2 million employees...
Vice President Huynh Thanh Xuan affirmed that during the development process, the Vietnam Trade Union has received a lot of affection and support from international friends, including the German Metallurgy Trade Union and the FES Institute.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor highly appreciated the activities and technical assistance focusing on improving the capacity of Vietnam Trade Union officials. In particular, the contents on improving the effectiveness of legal consultation, legal support of trade union organizations; building a team of experts - lecturers on collective labor agreements, collective bargaining on wages; supporting Vietnam Trade Unions to participate in effectively implementing the national action plan on green growth.
In order for the cooperation relationship to become increasingly practical and effective, promote the existing results, one of the proposals of the VGCL for the German Metal Trade Union and the FES Institute is to support the VGCL, to further improve the capacity of the expert team and lecturers on the agreement on the VGCL and the German Major Trade Union and FES Institute for training.
Coordinate and accompany in piloting to help trade unions at all levels negotiate collectively on salaries and salary scales, aiming to sign group, regional and industry agreements with salary content. Support the development of a set of guiding documents, training for dialogue, and collective bargaining on salaries for trade union officials...
