According to the agreed plan, 14 officials of Yen Bai Transport Hospital will be received and assigned to work at commune and ward health stations in Lao Cai province.
Among these are 1 general practitioner, 7 nurses, 3 public employees of the Pharmacy department, 2 accountants and 1 public employee of the General Planning Department.
This is considered an important step, removing the biggest bottleneck for the collective of officials and employees of Yen Bai Transport Hospital - those who have been waiting for jobs for more than 4 years, late salaries, late social insurance, facing the risk of losing livelihoods.
Previously, in November and December 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper published a series of articles reflecting the reality that Yen Bai Transport Hospital is submerged in mud after floods, facilities are seriously degraded, operating paralyzed, while dozens of officials and employees have been unpaid for many years but still stick to and look after the hospital.
The series of articles not only reflects the painful situation but also raises questions about the responsibility of managing and resolving regimes for workers at a public non-business unit under the Ministry of Construction, located in the locality.
Immediately after Lao Dong Newspaper published it, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee directed relevant departments and agencies to urgently review and organize many meetings to find a definitive solution, with the spirit of not letting medical staff be abandoned, not letting workers fall into misery with hospitals.
According to the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health, from 2021, Yen Bai Transport Hospital began to fall into a situation of owing salaries to officials and employees. In the following years, the hospital only maintained operating at a moderate level, mainly conducting periodic health checks for drivers and recruited workers.
By June 2024, the hospital could not complete procedures to change its medical examination and treatment operating license, lost the ability to sign health insurance medical examination and treatment contracts and was forced to completely stop operating.
From that time until now, the hospital has been "frozen". Some officials still stay to look after the facility and protect property, even without salary or allowances. After the storm, a thick layer of mud covered the hospital grounds, many public vehicles and ambulances were flooded and heavily damaged, further showing the degradation and prolonged deadlock.
Currently, the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health has a document reporting to the Provincial People's Committee, requesting the Ministry of Construction to submit to the Government for consideration and dissolution of Yen Bai Transport Hospital according to regulations.
Regarding long-term salary and social insurance debts, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Ministry of Construction coordinate to resolve them thoroughly. In case of transferring financial obligations to localities, there should be specific guidance from the Ministry of Finance for the province to implement in accordance with regulations.
Sharing with reporters, Mr. Lai Van Quynh - Head of the Organization Department, Chairman of the Trade Union of Yen Bai Transport Hospital - emotionally said: "We are very happy that after many years of sticking together, we finally have jobs. If it weren't for Lao Dong Newspaper speaking out and pursuing it to the end, perhaps the hospital's staff and employees would still not know where to cling to. This is a meaningful Tet gift after so many hardships.
