Creative, effort to take care of workers
With more than 74% of the company's employees being female, over the years, the Trade Union of Bach My Noi Y Company Limited (Vi Thanh City, Hau Giang Province) has always promptly reflected and proposed measures to improve living conditions and increase income to help female union members and workers feel secure in their work.
Accordingly, the company's Trade Union has implemented an initiative to honor female employees with 10 years of experience working at the company and will receive 1.1 taels of 9999 gold. From 2022 to present, 91 female employees have received a total of 100.1 taels of 9999 gold, with a total amount of over 635 million VND.
Ms. Dang Hong Cam, Head of the Women's Union of Bach My Noi Y Company Limited, said that the lives of employees are still difficult, especially female union members. Therefore, the Union always seeks and researches to create good initiatives, hoping to contribute to encouraging the spirit, showing gratitude, and creating motivation to help union members stick with the company.
Regarding housing care for union members in difficult circumstances, Hau Giang Provincial Civil Servants' Union always considers it a top priority task, with the desire for union members to settle down and find work.
Chairman of the Hau Giang Provincial Civil Servants' Union Phan Hong Tham said that after nearly 4 years of implementing the "Union Shelter", it has always received the attention and support of leaders at all levels and the affiliated trade unions have supported the construction of 25 houses for union members, with support amounting to 30-60 million VND/house, total value of 960 million VND.
“Thanks to the Union's support, my family has a spacious house, fulfilling our dream of settling down, and has more motivation to strive and improve in life,” Ms. Huynh Thi My Kim (member of the Trade Union Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hau Giang province) shared.
Step by step to improve position
In recent years, not only innovating and improving the quality of grassroots trade union activities in the system, Hau Giang Provincial Federation of Labor also focuses on establishing informal grassroots trade unions.
According to Mr. Vo Van Hien - Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks in Hau Giang province, at the end of July 2024, the Trade Union of Industrial Parks in the province established the first Cooks' Union with union members being workers in the informal sector. This is an important stepping stone in the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in clusters and industrial parks in the coming time.
Hau Giang Provincial Federation of Labor informed that in the first 9 months of 2024, 12,204 new union members were developed, bringing the total number of the province to 789 grassroots unions and grassroots unions with 53,961 union members/56,493 workers, civil servants and laborers.
In 2023, 14,643 union members and employees will receive nearly VND 5.2 billion from welfare programs directly signed and implemented by trade unions at all levels. The programs are implemented in many practical, diverse and timely forms such as Tet Sum vay - Xuan ket ke, Workers' Month...
For employees whose working hours have been reduced or whose labor contracts have been terminated due to the business cutting or reducing orders, all levels of the trade union have always paid attention and provided timely support. In the past year, a total of 4,260 cases of employees whose working hours had been cut or reduced were supported according to regulations, with a total amount of nearly 4.9 billion VND from the compensation fund of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
In addition, Hau Giang trade unions at all levels always proactively coordinate with the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, People's Committees at all levels, etc. to approach and propagate to workers so that they clearly understand the activities of the Trade Union organization and their rights and responsibilities when becoming a Trade Union member. Thereby, attracting the above subjects to apply to join the Trade Union organization, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the position of the Vietnam Trade Union organization to grow stronger.
