From January 1, 2026, the minimum hourly wage will increase by 7.2% according to Decree 293/2025/ND-CP, many sanitation workers said their income will improve somewhat.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet - a worker at Hanoi Urban Environment Company - said that working by the hour should increase her monthly income when the minimum wage increases.
A few thousand an hour more but collecting it for the whole month also saves some of the cost of living, said Ms. Nguyet.
Similarly, Ms. Pham Thi Men (48 years old) also said that the 7.2% increase will help workers less struggle in the context of rising prices.
"Living in the capital is very difficult because the price is expensive, hearing the information about the extra hourly allowance, I feel very excited," said Ms. Men.
According to the provisions of Decree No. 293/2025/ND-CP, the minimum hourly salary in region I is 25,500 VND/hour, region II is 22,700 VND/hour, region III is 20,000 VND/hour, region IV is 17,800 VND/hour. Thus, the above minimum hourly wage increases by 7.2% compared to the current minimum wage stipulated in Decree No. 74/2024/ND-CP.
At the same time, Decree No. 293/2025/ND-CP also stipulates the area of application of minimum hourly wages determined according to the place of work of workers. Employers operating in a region will apply the minimum wage prescribed for that region.
Decree No. 293/2025/ND-CP also clearly states that the minimum hourly wage is the lowest wage as a basis for negotiating and paying wages to employees who apply the form of hourly wages, ensuring the salary according to the job or position of the employee working for one hour and completing the agreed labor norms or work must not be lower than the minimum hourly wage.
The increase in the minimum wage from January 1, 2026 is expected to help improve income and reduce difficulties for cleaning workers, as many units prepare to adjust the salary unit price according to new regulations.
