Shortage of thousands of workers
On May 12, Mr. Dang Viet Thuc - Director of Ha Tinh Garment Enterprise 10 (in Vung Ang Economic Zone) - said that in 2024 until early 2025, the Enterprise has announced the recruitment of a large number of workers. However, up to now, the unit only has 400 employees, with a shortage of 600 employees.
"The enterprise has paid an average monthly salary of nearly 8 million VND, and also supported accommodation and fuel for travel. There are productivity bonuses, diligence bonuses... but it is still very difficult to recruit, Mr. Thuc shared.
According to Mr. Thuc, due to the difficulty in recruiting workers, the unit has widely announced recruitment. In particular, the unit applies a policy of encouraging each officer and employee who introduces a worker with good skills to work and will be rewarded with 1 million VND, and a unskilled worker who is introduced to continue training will be rewarded with 500,000 VND. However, the recruitment results are still low.
Ms. Vo Thi Tam - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Haivina Hong Linh Garment Company - informed that to meet export orders, since the beginning of 2025, the company has announced the recruitment of more than 1,000 workers. However, so far only 300 workers have been recruited. The company is continuing to recruit but it is very difficult to recruit.
A representative of the human resources department of Five Star Ha Tinh Garment Company (in Dai Kim Industrial Park, Huong Son District) said that since the beginning of 2025, the company has announced the recruitment of more than 1,000 workers but so far only 250 have been recruited. Low recruitment results have made the company more concerned when it has oriented the scale of need for 2,500 - 3,000 workers in the coming time.
Reasons for difficulty in recruiting
Mr. Dang Viet Thuc - Director of Ha Tinh Garment Enterprise 10 commented that the average salary of 8 million VND/person/month and many other benefits offered by the workshop are also quite high. However, the low recruitment results are due to the fact that in Vung Ang Economic Zone, there are still many enterprises in many other industries and fields that create jobs for workers.
"There is a shortage of kindergartens here, so many women raising young children cannot send them, so having to stay at home to take care of their children is also a reason why recruiting workers is difficult," said Mr. Thuc.
According to Ms. Vo Thi Tam - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Haivina Hong Linh Garment Company, there are currently many garment enterprises in Ha Tinh province, so workers have many options. This is the reason why the company's recruitment results are low.
In addition, many people choose to go abroad to work to earn better income, or their families have husbands going abroad to work for good income, so their wives stay home to work as housewives and take care of their children, so they do not work anymore.
The staff of the human resources department of Five Star Ha Tinh Garment Company also confirmed that there are many garment enterprises in the area, so recruiting workers is difficult because they have dispersed workers according to the area. According to representatives of garment enterprises, export orders are stable, the company wants to expand scale and boost production, but the lack of labor has greatly affected production and business plans, affecting revenue.
According to Ha Tinh Provincial Employment Service Center, in the regular job session held on May 15, there will be 30 enterprises in the province to interview directly to recruit more than 2,100 employees with a salary of 5 to 10 million VND/person/month. In particular, the garment field has recruited nearly 1,500 employees. The leader of the Employment Service Center of Ha Tinh province said that the recruitment of workers in the area is difficult due to the lower salary and remuneration regime than many other provinces, especially in the provinces in the South.
