The children's education is nearly one-third of their income
On May 22, the National Assembly listened to a presentation and report on the review of the draft Resolution of the National Assembly on tuition exemption and support for preschool children, primary school students, and students studying general education programs at educational institutions in the national education system.
Receiving this information through the press, Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet (34 years old, from Ba Thuoc district, Thanh Hoa province) could not hide her joy and waiting. Ms. Tuyet is a worker at a Japanese electronic components company in Thang Long Industrial Park, Dong Anh, Hanoi. Each month, her income ranges from 8 to 10 million VND, depending on the number of overtime hours. Her husband is also a worker with an equivalent income. Her two young children are currently in primary school at a public school in the area. Each month, the total cost of tuition, boarding meals, school milk and other contributions is nearly 3 million VND.
Therefore, when hearing the news that from the 2025 - 2026 school year, all students from preschool to public high school are expected to be exempted from tuition fees, Ms. Tuyet could not hide her emotions.
Hope the policy will soon come into life
Ms. Tuyet's wish is the same for Mr. Nguyen Duy Dinh and his wife. Mr. Dinh and his wife are renting a room in Nhue village, Kim Chung commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi. His family has 2 children, one of whom is in grade 5, one of whom is in grade 2, Currently, the cost of food and education for the two children accounts for the majority of the monthly expenses of this worker couple, even though they are all attending public schools.
"Every month, I have to pay the school about 1.5 million VND/child, including tuition, boarding fees, etc. Thus, both children have to spend about 3 million VND. That is not to mention other expenses, such as extra classes and buying milk" - Mr. Dinh said. According to the male worker, next year when he grows up and is in grade 6, it is expected to be more expensive than it is now.
Thanks to his high basic salary, his income is still about 10 million VND/month. According to his calculations, this amount of money is not enough for him to cover his family's living expenses and tuition for his two children. He had to compensate from his wife's salary. As for the rent and electricity, he has to pay about 2.5 million VND per month. Recently, the company announced that there will be difficulties in employment in the near future, so workers' income may still decrease.
His wife works as a worker in Quang Minh Industrial Park, receiving a salary according to the product. If she works a lot, she earns about 10 million VND per month, if not only about 8 million VND.
Hearing the news that the tuition fee will be exempted next school year, Mr. Dinh is very hopeful and hopeful.
In addition, according to him, supporting tuition fees for preschool children, primary school students, and those studying general education programs at private and public educational institutions will also be very meaningful, because for many reasons, many workers will have to send their children to private and public schools.
I hope the National Assembly will soon pass the resolution and resolution into life. For workers, reducing any expenses in the context of many expenses when renting a house is valuable, helping our workers' lives to be less arduous" - the male worker shared.
