Bought an electric bike as my sister wished
Mr. Nguyen Huy An, a worker at Quang Minh Industrial Park (Hanoi), came from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi to work for 3 years. There are 3 siblings in the family, An is the oldest. The youngest sister is in 11th grade, and wishes to have an electric bike to go to school. Therefore, in 2024, from his monthly income, An saved a portion, and now, at the end of December, he has enough money to buy an electric bike for his youngest sister.
Mr. An shared: Of the three siblings, only the youngest is a girl. I would have stayed home to help my aging parents, but I work far away, so all the housework falls on my two younger siblings. I feel sorry for the youngest sister who has to take care of her studies, housework, and parents. Therefore, Mr. An is very happy to buy an electric bike for her. He has not told his sister yet, but will take advantage of the New Year holiday to go home and bring the bike to surprise his youngest sister. When asked why he did not buy it in Thanh Hoa to save on transportation, Mr. An said that the type of electric bike his youngest sister likes is only available in Hanoi, and has not been seen in Thanh Hoa.
Sharing his wishes for 2025, Mr. An expressed that he only hopes that his parents will be healthy, and that he will have enough work to have a steady income like in 2024. Impressed by the activities at the company last year, Mr. An remembers the "Union Meal". According to Mr. An, it was a very delicious meal, not because there was more food than other meals, but also because there were Union officials present to share many stories. Mr. An and the company's workers hope to have more "Union Meals".
Originally from Hoa Binh, Ms. Quach Thi Huong moved to Hanoi 3 years ago and is currently working at Sai Dong B Industrial Park. Ms. Huong spends 2 million VND per month on rent, not including electricity and water bills. With her current income, including overtime pay, totaling around 10 million VND, Ms. Huong does not have many difficulties in life. Last Lunar New Year, Ms. Huong took the company car back to Hoa Binh.
However, the distance from the bus stop to Ms. Huong's house is too far, so on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, Ms. Huong decided to ride a motorbike home to celebrate Tet. For Ms. Huong, 2024 is a year without too many changes. As for 2025, she hopes the company will continue to have many contracts to have enough work for workers like her.
What surprised Ms. Huong was that with just over ten days left until the end of the 2024 calendar year, she was visited by the leader of the Hanoi City Trade Union right at the production line. She said: The Union leader talked about feelings, asked if the work was hard, and if the income was enough to live on?
Focusing resources on taking care of the welfare of union members and workers in the new situation
A highlight in the activities of the Trade Union to care for union members and workers is to organize "Union Meals" simultaneously throughout the union system, creating a strong ripple effect. Like Mr. Nguyen Huy An, many workers are very impressed with the "Union Meals".
Organizing “Union Meals” simultaneously is a new and creative activity in a series of meaningful activities to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union. This is also an activity that demonstrates the mark and role of the Trade Union organization through dialogue and negotiation with employers and the organization to improve the quality of workers' meals.
“Union Meals” are not only more delicious and nutritious than usual, but also an opportunity for workers, union officials and business leaders to get closer and share with each other in the warm and friendly atmosphere of the shift meal at the workplace, an opportunity to remember the glorious tradition of the Vietnam Trade Union, thereby strengthening the trust and attachment of union members and workers to the union and the business. There have been 15.6 thousand grassroots unions organizing “Union Meals” with the participation of more than 3.3 million union members and workers, with a total cost of more than 167 billion VND.
In 2025, Vietnam Trade Union will focus resources on implementing major activities of the year: Workers' Month 2025, Dialogue program between Party and State leaders and union members and workers, taking care of Tet for union members and workers on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2026.
Effectively deploy solutions on “Focusing resources on taking care of the welfare of union members and workers in the new situation”. Coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to pay attention to stabilizing jobs and ensuring income for workers. Enhance welfare and attract and gather workers into the Trade Union.
With these key tasks, in 2025, the Trade Union organization, especially the grassroots trade union, will support and contribute significantly to making the dreams of Mr. An or Ms. Huong as well as the dreams of many union members and workers come true.
