Overcoming adversity
That is the case of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dien, working at Box-Pak Co., Ltd. (VSIP I Industrial Park, Binh Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). During his work, Mr. Dien unfortunately had a work accident. The incident left a permanent disability rate of 85%. From a healthy worker, the pillar of the family, suddenly there is a risk of becoming a burden for relatives.
Facing adversity, Mr. Dien did not surrender to fate but found a way to overcome difficulties. "I have made efforts to perform painful rehabilitation exercises to soon regain basic mobility. Instead of being self-conscious, I chose an optimistic attitude to face reality" - Mr. Dien shared.
After that, with the support from the Trade Union and the company, Mr. Dien devoted all his mind to learning computer drawing techniques. From a direct worker, he self-studyed, stayed up late to get acquainted with specialized design software. This is a completely new field that requires high concentration. As a result, currently, Mr. Dien has completely mastered his work at the design position.
My drawings ensure high accuracy, helping me stabilize my life and continue to contribute to the company's development. I work with a high sense of responsibility, not relying on policy areas, always completing work on schedule" - Mr. Dien happily shared.
Trade union officials have made improvements
At Saigon Stec Co., Ltd. (Binh Duong ward), Mr. Luu Van Nhiem is a typical grassroots trade union official, currently he is holding the role of Vice Chairman of the grassroots trade union.
In the process of working, Mr. Nhiem has had practical solutions for thrift and anti-wastefulness. Thereby contributing to optimizing costs and enhancing competitive advantages for businesses.
Notably, the project improves equipment conditions when performing each production shift inspection. This improvement aims to reduce the operating time of workers. Mr. Nhiem said that through surveys and records, when the operator performs the inspection, the device must confirm and record many items about the machine's parameters. This takes time to implement. Mr. Nhiem has proposed to implement automatic machine parameter management, when there are deviations, the system will report errors.
This proposal has been sampled on 1 machine connected to the GCM system to manage machine parameters. Test results show that there are no problems arising and the operating time is reduced. From the above results, Mr. Nhiem developed a project to submit to the company's leaders for approval and received approval to deploy in series with 60 machines.
As a result, this improvement has reduced the operating time of the machine operator when performing the equipment testing stage. Reduced 78 minutes of operation on each machine in one month, 60 machines reduced 4,740 minutes in 1 month.
In addition, Mr. Nhiem also implemented a project to improve the raw material preparation process, omitting unnecessary operations with the aim of reducing the time for operators in the process. From the good results in the test machine, the company's leaders approved to deploy in many similar machines. Improvements have reduced 18.5 million VND/month by reducing operating costs.
The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation said that Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dien and Mr. Luu Van Nhiem are typical workers who were commended by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for their outstanding achievements in "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style" in the period 2023 - 2025.
