Supporting workers to win both first-instance and appellate lawsuits
On August 15 and August 21, 2025, the People's Court of Dong Nai province opened an appeal trial for the " dispute over disciplinary action in the form of dismissal" between the plaintiff, Mr. L.Q.T (a 41-year-old employee, from Thanh Hoa) and the defendant, SanLim Furniture Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bao Xeo Industrial Park, Song Trau commune, Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province).
As a result, the Court of Appeal accepted Mr. L.Q.T's lawsuit, forcing the company to compensate more than VND 600 million.
Previously, on April 24, 2025, the People's Court of Trang Bom District (formerly) held a first-instance trial and accepted Mr. L.Q.T's lawsuit against SanLim Furniture Vietnam Company Limited, forcing the company to accept Mr. T. to return to work under the signed labor contract; forcing the company to pay salaries for the days Mr. T. was unable to work, compensate for 2 months of salary; pay social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance for employees...
After that, the defendant, SanLim Furniture Vietnam Company Limited, appealed the request to cancel the judgment and suspend the settlement of the case or amend the first instance judgment in the direction of not accepting the plaintiff's lawsuit request.
However, this is a case where workers were consulted and supported by the Trade Union Legal Consulting Center from the beginning. During the process of resolving the case at the first instance and appellate courts, the Trade Union Legal Consulting Center assigned union officials to represent and closely follow the case to protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers. As a result, continue to successfully protect the rights of workers at the appeal court.
More than 2 years of union accompanying to protect the rights of employees
The employee is Mr. L.Q.T. was recruited to work at SanLim Furniture Vietnam Co., Ltd. in October 2004.
During his work, Mr. T always completed the assigned tasks, without violating the company's rules. However, on April 12, 2022, the company issued a department transfer certificate, accordingly transferring Mr. T from the position of Veneer department manager to the responsibility of Resin department. Realizing that the company's transfer decision was not suitable, Mr. T did not accept it.
Because Mr. T did not accept the transfer decision, the company drew up disciplinary records against Mr. T because it was thought that he did not comply with the order. On April 22, 2022, the company issued Decision No. 224/QD-SL to discipline Mr. T with the form of dismissal from April 25, 2022.
After the incident, Mr. T contacted the Trade Union Legal Consulting Center. When receiving support requests from workers, the Trade Union Legal Consulting Center promptly provided legal advice and guidance on lawsuit procedures, provided legal support and sent union officials to represent according to their authority to participate in the litigation. Thanks to that support, the legitimate rights of workers have been completely protected at both court levels.
Mr. L.Q.T shared with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters that the Trade Union Law Consulting Center is a reliable place to protect the rights of workers.
