We went to the newly completed house in Ngai Son Hamlet, Son Phu Commune, Giong Trom District of Ms. Le Thi Hoang Huong (1971, a union member of Ben Tre Seafood Joint Stock Company). Her eyes clearly showed the joy that came to tears.
Ms. Huong said that her husband had been dead for more than 10 years. She alone shoulders the whole family, working as a worker with a salary of about 8 million VND, taking care of her elderly parents and raising her brother with complicated diabetes who cannot work.
The old house is temporarily covered with leaves, and during the rainy season, it leaks everywhere, and you have to use a pot pot to collect water. "I never dared to think I would have such a sturdy house as today. The 60 million VND support from the Union is a miracle for me!, Ms. Huong said emotionally.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia and his wife, workers at a garment company in Chau Thanh district, said that he and his wife have lived for many years in a dilapidated hut with rough, dilapidated soil. They just hope to have a place to live without leaking when it rains, and do not dare to dream of a new house.
"The children are far away from home, have limited finances, and cannot help. Thanks to the 60 million VND support, my wife and I contributed a little more money to save and the efforts of relatives, and finally had a place to shelter from the sun and rain like today," Mr. Nghia said emotionally.
Ms. Huong and Mr. Nghia are just 2 of hundreds of union members and workers in especially difficult circumstances who have touched their dream of settling down, thanks to the timely support from the Trade Union Shelter Fund.

Speaking to Lao Dong newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of the Ben Tre Provincial Federation of Labor - said that the housing support program not only helps union members and workers in difficulty have a roof to cover themselves from the sun and rain, but also arouses confidence and motivation to rise up.
From the beginning of 2025 to now, the Ben Tre Provincial Federation of Labor has handed over 19 Trade Union Shelters, Great Unity House, and Charity House with a total cost of more than 1.1 billion VND.
It is expected that during the whole year, the Provincial Federation of Labor will support more than 1.74 billion VND from social mobilization sources to build 29 houses for union members and workers in especially difficult circumstances, responding to the movement of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
"This is not only material support, but also a message of solidarity and sharing, affirming the accompanying role of the Trade Union organization in the journey to build a sustainable life for workers," Mr. Linh added.
