Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao (45 years old, residing in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa) works as an administrative staff at a unit in Nha Trang City with more than 20 years of experience. Ms. Thao is not married and has been renting a room since working.
Recently, when she learned about social housing policies for single people, she was very excited. Many times before, Ms. Thao researched to buy a social apartment to stabilize her life but could not access it because the documents required to prove her singleness were quite complicated.

However, regarding the proof of income under 15 million, Ms. Thao is quite concerned because in fact, after more than 20 years of working, her current income is nearly 16 million VND/month.
"If it were according to regulations, I would not be eligible to buy a house. Before, I did not dare to think about a private house for myself because my income was only enough to cover my living expenses and support my parents in the countryside. Therefore, I hope that social housing policies must truly support workers in need and have more open conditions for the elderly and single workers" - Ms. Thao shared.
For Mr. Huynh Van Dien (40 years old), a taxi driver employee working in Nha Trang City for nearly 10 years has still rented a room in a 6m2 room in Vinh Ngoc commune.
Mr. Dien said: "I am alone, driving a taxi for many years and still have unpaid wages, so I dare not think about a piece of land to settle down. But after the COVID-19 pandemic, I learned about social housing to buy a house but it was really difficult to access.
According to Mr. Dien, the first difficulty for a group of workers like him is the lack of information about social housing projects. Then the condition for older workers to import to buy a house is almost impossible because they have to prove their income, prove their beneficiaries...
In a recent dialogue with union members and workers in 2025, the leader of the Department of Construction of Khanh Hoa province informed that there are currently 10 investors registering to implement social housing in the area. Of which, 8 projects are concentrated in Nha Trang City.
The projects are expected to start construction in 2026 and by 2027-2028, a large number of social housing will be put into use. This will help improve the current situation of stress about social housing for workers.
However, the current regulation requires single older workers to have an income of less than 15 million VND/month. For the group of older workers who have worked for many years and have an income of over 15 million VND/month, this condition will not be met. Therefore, it is possible to consider the case of family deduction if raising elderly parents...
Also at the dialogue, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan affirmed that the demand for social housing in the coming time will be very large. In particular, provincial leaders are very concerned about the opinions related to the group of older workers who do not have housing, many workers in industrial parks who have lost the opportunity to get married or have long-term social insurance debts from businesses...
The Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee hopes that the Trade Union organization will participate more deeply with the locality to bring social housing policies to union members and workers.
Specifically, the Trade Union participates in determining the needs and aspirations of union members and workers registering to buy social housing. Monitoring the right subjects will avoid being more negative and no one will be left out. The locality will also follow the wishes of workers and trade unions to propose appropriate policies.
