That is the case of Mr. Hoang Minh Long - maintenance manager of Mekong Furniture Company Limited. Recently, Mr. Long has had an initiative in the field of automation, implementing a solution to replace the CNC Holma cutting board controller.

Mr. Long said that the wood processing industry is constantly changing, requiring continuous improvement of machinery. During the work, he noticed that the old CNC machine had a broken control, foreign languages were difficult to use, and training was time-consuming. Buying a new one would cost about 1.2 billion VND. He proposed and was approved to improve and replace all controls, helping to save 1.2 billion VND, increase productivity by 30%, easy-to-operate, accurately stable Vietnamese interface, and make an additional profit of about 500 million VND for businesses.

Previously, recruiting and training machine operators was very difficult due to foreign languages. Machines often have errors that damage the product. If I buy a new one at that time, it will cost a lot of money. So I have researched and improved to continue using this CNC machine. The language of the machine has been changed to Vietnamese, facilitating the training of new employees to operate the machine. Stable machines help workers operate more easily and are less stressful.

My initiative has been applied since December 2023 until now. Currently, CNC machines are still running very stably, bringing good production efficiency" - Mr. Long shared.

Workers are passionate about inventions

In addition to the initiative to improve machinery, among the company with about 1,000 workers, Mr. Hoang Minh Long is famous for having many patents. Notably, Mr. Long has manufactured a wood panel air intake. A wooden board needs to be covered with a layer, other machines can usually not do it, Mr. Long researched and manufactured an air suction machine.

"I covered a layer of plastic and glue with a wooden board and put it in the machine. The machine has used vacuum suction, the silicon will press the board, and the dryer of the machine will quickly dry the board. I have built 100% of this machine. When the machine is applied, it helps the production of products with higher technical requirements" - Mr. Long shared.

In addition, Mr. Long is also researching to build a safer factory. After a period of research, Mr. Long successfully improved the automatic vacuum cleaner and fire warning system.

In case of a fire, the sensor system will detect the fire rays and automatically issue a fire warning, turning off the system. Then activate the automatic fire extinguishing system" - Mr. Long shared.

This upgrade was also applied by the company to be put into operation during the production process. The improvement has helped the company operate more safely, minimizing the risk of fire and explosion at the factory.
