Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhanh (52 years old, from Dong Thap, a member of Bau Bang Lottery Ticket Union) said that each day selling lottery tickets only earns about 150,000 VND, life is precarious. She is excited to participate in the Trade Union, has a place to live, support each other in difficult times and hopes that the organization will have more activities to care for freelance workers.
According to Mr. Luu The Thuan - Chairman of Bau Bang Commune Trade Union, selling lottery tickets is a very special profession, this job helps many disadvantaged people have income to cover their lives. However, the lives of workers are still facing many difficulties. Bau Bang Commune Trade Union has proactively reviewed and grasped the situation of informal labor in the area, developed and established Bau Bang Commune Lottery Ticket Union. When workers join the union, union members will have a place to live, be cared for and protected like official sector workers.
In the first 6 months of the year, the Bau Bang Commune Trade Union established 6 grassroots trade unions with 185 union members. Notably, the Commune Trade Union developed 1 trade union with nearly 50 union members. This is an important milestone, showing the Trade Union organization's concern for informal sector workers in Bau Bang commune.
In Ben Cat ward, the Ward Trade Union has established Ben Cat Lottery Ticket Union with 70 union members. The unit has mobilized businesses to donate 2 wheelchairs for union members with disabilities and give gifts to union members in difficult circumstances.
Focus on establishing grassroots trade unions
In Di An ward, the ward Trade Union continues to promote propaganda and mobilization to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions at enterprises in the area. The unit gradually expands the Trade Union organization and improves the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
Recently, Di An Ward Trade Union awarded decisions to establish 3 grassroots trade unions, including: An Viet Tin Investment and Development Co., Ltd., Tuan Duc Private Trading and Service Enterprise, An Thinh Phat BD Co., Ltd. Three new grassroots trade unions were established with 115 trade union members. Currently, Di An Ward Trade Union continues to review labor in the area, coordinate with agencies to propagate and mobilize workers. At the same time, working with businesses to establish grassroots trade unions, develop union members, and strive to complete assigned tasks.
In Thu Dau Mot ward, the Ward Trade Union also focuses on developing union members in enterprises with 20 or more employees. Recently, the Thu Dau Mot Ward Trade Union has awarded decisions to establish 6 grassroots trade unions at enterprises in the area. At the same time, it is completing dossiers to establish grassroots trade unions at more than 10 enterprises with over 800 employees.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Tien - Chairwoman of Thu Dau Mot Ward Trade Union - said that the unit is focusing on establishing grassroots trade unions and expanding the trade union network in the ward.
This is an important foundation to improve the effectiveness of caring for, representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers, and at the same time building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises. The Ward Trade Union continues to promote the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in the last months of the year.
