- Supported with health insurance: The State supports 100% of health insurance premiums for people from near-poor households living in poor districts and districts with high poverty rates. The State supports at least 70% of health insurance premiums for people in near-poor households. The People's Committees of provinces and cities also have policies to support the health insurance fee for vulnerable groups in the area from 10 - 30%... For those who are students and those who belong to households working in agriculture, forestry, fishery and salt making with an average living standard according to the Government's regulations, the minimum health insurance purchase support is 30%.
- Receive health insurance examination and treatment (HI) nationwide: Buyers of health insurance examination and treatment at any medical facility that has signed a health insurance examination and treatment contract nationwide according to regulations.
- Be covered by the health insurance fund for health examination and treatment costs: People with health insurance cards will be paid by the health insurance fund for all or part of the medical examination and treatment costs (the payment rate depends on the right or wrong treatment rate); be covered by medical staff with medical examination and treatment expertise; be transferred to a higher-level hospital when the disease is severe. The Health Insurance Fund covers 80% - 100% of medical examination and treatment costs at the right level. From 40% - 100% of the cost of inpatient medical examination and treatment at specialized, basic, and primary hospitals. From January 1, 2025, for outpatient treatment on the other route, health insurance participants will also be paid 50 - 100% of the cost depending on the route and according to the roadmap.
- Receiving tens of thousands of drugs and medical services: The list of drugs, medical supplies, and technical services covered by the health insurance fund is increasingly expanded to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of health insurance patients. Many expensive drugs and drugs for cancer treatment are also included in the health insurance payment list. Expensive replacement materials such as artificial hamstrings, artery stents, etc. have been paid thousands of billions of VND by the health insurance fund each year.
According to Vietnam Social Insurance, the quality of health insurance examination and treatment is increasingly improved: The health facility system is increasingly expanded, the quality of health services is being paid attention to and implemented effectively and in depth by the Party and the State, especially the grassroots health system is increasingly consolidated and improved. Currently, the whole country has nearly 13,000 health insurance facilities. The health insurance treatment system is organized from the central to local levels, including both public and non-public facilities, helping people conveniently access and use health insurance treatment services.
