According to Ms. Duong Thi Minh Chau - Head of the Department of Propaganda and Support for Participants (Hanoi City Social Insurance), if there is a work accident at the unit, in addition to the unit having to pay wages, health insurance, and medical expenses, employees are also entitled to occupational accident benefits. After the unit guides them for medical examination, if they have reduced working capacity, the employee will enjoy the occupational accident regime.
In case of a reduced working capacity of 5% to less than 31%: Employees are entitled to a one-time social insurance allowance. If the rate is higher, for every 1% of workers, 1/2 of the basic salary will be added.
In addition, employees also receive additional seniority in social insurance contributions. If the payment period is 1 year or less, the employee will receive 1/2 month; for more than 1 year, each year the employee will be paid an amount equal to 30% of the insurance salary of the most recent month before the employee applied for leave due to a work accident.
If the rate of labor decline is 31% or more, the lowest allowance is calculated at 30% of the basic salary; in case of 81% or more decline, employees will receive a service allowance if they are in specific cases, the allowance will be calculated at the basic salary prescribed at that time. Some cases such as losing legs and arms may be supported with household items.
