Initiatives to ensure safety and prevent accidents for workers

Trade unions work together to build a safe working environment

Located in Bac Dong Phu Industrial Park, New Apparel Far Eastern Company Limited (garment production) has 3,500 workers, divided into 72 shifts. At the company, the Trade Union established an occupational safety and hygiene Department (OSH) with 41 members who are managers and heads of production teams.

Every year, the Trade Union proposes that business owners organize training for union officials, people working in occupational safety and health, occupational safety and hygiene, and equip them with knowledge and skills to prevent occupational accidents and diseases.

Every day, before, during and after working hours, members are responsible for checking safety, promptly detecting and proposing to handle incidents that pose a risk of unsafety that may occur in work-related accidents.

The business owner arranges funding sources to support group leaders and each member according to the proposal of the union. Every year, the Trade Union organizes emulation movements for innovation, applying science and technology such as "good workers, creative workers", "green-clean-beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and health", and decoration competitions for protection corners.

Since the grassroots trade union movement, workers have had many initiatives in occupational safety and hygiene at enterprises. Notably, the initiative of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang to "insert a laser light reducer device for a stamp press" helps workers avoid blurred vision and overcome the problem of printing skewed stamps. The initiative "Creating water pressure testing tools at fire and fighting towers" by Mr. Nguyen Van Duc helps ensure labor safety, protect property, and ensure the safety of thousands of workers.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Chi - Chairwoman of the company's Trade Union: "The Trade Union can say, do and be effective, showing a safer and more productive working environment".

Ensuring workers' health

At Becamex Industrial Park, CPV Food Company Limited has about 3,200 workers, working in a food processing factory and a animal feed factory. With the motto "Safe for production, safe production", the company equips a modern, closed, and automatic factory and machinery system.

Participate in developing OSH plans of the company, the grassroots grassroots level is particularly interested in the health examination policy for workers, labor protection, shift meals and inspection and supervision. Accordingly, periodically twice a year, the grassroots trade union coordinates with business owners to organize health checks for 100% of officials, union members and workers. The amount of money for health checks is VND 1,088,000/person. One day/month, the company invites general doctors to go to the company to examine and consult health for workers.

Depending on the job position, workers are equipped with protective gear such as gloves, boots, glasses, masks, and clothes. Thanks to that, since its operation, there have been no cases of workers having work accidents at the workplace.

shift meals are an important content negotiated by the union, included in the collective labor agreement. The company paid 30,000 VND for shift meals. The workers' shift meals are also supervised by the union, ensuring quality.
