Just past 6 am, the dining area of Truong Giang Seafood Joint Stock Company was already crowded with workers. Hot broken rice, hot noodle soup, cups of coffee... were continuously served at the counter. Breakfast was about 10,000 VND, drinks were only 3,000 VND.
Mr. Tran Van Hung - a company worker - said that like many workers, he chooses to have breakfast at the cafeteria not only because of the cheap price but also because the food is delicious and hygienic. The model originates from Ms. Ngoc's empathy.
When I heard Ngoc's proposal was reasonable and logical, I supported organizing the sale of dim sum right at the restaurant with price support policies" - Mr. Ong Hang Van - Deputy General Director of the company - recalled.
Not stopping at "eating your fill", Ms. Ngoc also advised to improve the quality of meals according to Resolution 7c of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, raising the value of meals to over 22,000 VND/person/session; and at the same time replacing all plastic trays with stainless steel trays and building a mechanism for employees to choose menus every day.
To date, the Trade Union has organized 38 "Trade Union Meals" for more than 65,000 union members and workers, with an additional value of 25,000 - 30,000 VND/meal.
Due to the specific nature of seafood processing work, in Truong Giang, female workers account for more than 70% of the working people. Understanding the pressure of women who both work and take care of young children, Ms. Ngoc devotes a lot of effort to activities to take care of this group.
Since 2015, she has advised on the implementation of periodic health check-ups and specialized obstetrics and gynecology check-ups for female workers; and at the same time maintained activities. A special mark is the model "Room for pumping and storing breast milk" launched in 2022 with a total investment cost of more than 100 million VND. In parallel, the "Pregnant women and raising young children club" was also established with 87 female union members participating.
