Ms. Tran Thi Giang (27 years old) - a garment worker in Nam Dinh said that this year the number of urgent orders is very large, so the company's leaders announced that she would work overtime on the New Year holiday.
Workers receive a support of 100,000 VND plus their production salary. The company does not have a New Year bonus.
Doing a quick calculation, Ms. Giang said that the total income from working overtime on New Year's Day was about 450,000 VND. This amount is almost equal to the income of those who work part-time after multiplying by 300%, so according to the female worker, she was somewhat comforted.
Besides, when thinking that she only needs to work 25 more days to get 9 days off for Tet, female workers do not feel deprived or disappointed.
Sharing about her plans for the holiday, Ms. Giang said that she only received 100,000 VND in support at the end of the day, and that her salary was paid during her pay period, so she did not dare to spend it lavishly.
For Mr. Tran Van Huynh (23 years old), a construction engineer in Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi, except for Tet, he has to work on other holidays. However, every month, the company still gives Mr. Huynh 4 flexible days off per week.
Mr. Huynh shared that choosing this profession means accepting that there are no holidays like other people. Only office workers have Sundays and holidays off. The end of the year is even more difficult because the workload is higher than other times of the year.
Sharing about the amount of money he received for working on New Year's Day, the male engineer said he received about 900,000 VND. Of which, 400,000 VND was his daily salary, 500,000 VND was his bonus and overtime support for New Year's Day from the company.
With this money, Mr. Huynh plans to spend 300,000 VND to go out to dinner with his colleagues. The remaining money, Mr. Huynh said, will be saved to buy a Tet gift basket for his parents when he returns home.
Ms. Pham Thi Hoa (27 years old) - an employee of a dental clinic in Cau Giay District, Hanoi said that she only has one day off a week. She still has to work on Sundays and holidays, and she has a maximum of 5 days off during Tet.
Ms. Hoa's daily job is to film and take pictures of the dental clinic and customers coming to use the service. When she goes to work on New Year's Day, Ms. Hoa is supported by the company with 200,000 VND, not paid 300% of her salary like many others.
"On holidays, customers have time to come to the dentist for dental services. We have to be on duty to collect information," said Ms. Hoa.
With the support of 200,000 VND and a 100,000 VND New Year bonus, the female employee said that after finishing work, she will take time to relax by eating or shopping.
