Khanh Hoa - Prolonged heavy rain caused many areas in Thuan Bac commune to be deeply flooded, more than 5,000 workers in Du Long Industrial Park had to temporarily take a day off from work.

On the morning of November 17, Mr. Pham Trong Hung - Chairman of Thuan Bac Commune People's Committee said that in the past two days, heavy rain has caused serious flooding in many areas in the area.

The three most heavily flooded areas are My Nhon, Ba Thap and Go San villages, with water levels from 12m deep. At Du Long Industrial Park, from 6am, the water in front of the industrial park gate rose 12m, causing many roads to be cut off.

At 10am, the water level continued to rise, flooding more than half of the people and directly affecting the operations of businesses.

A representative of INNOFLOW NT Company Limited said that the enterprise has proactively let nearly 5,000 workers take a day off from work from early in the morning due to the rapid rise of water. When the water flooded into the factory area, all human resources were mobilized to load goods and move equipment to higher ground to minimize damage.

The authorities have evacuated 50 households in Ba Thap and Go San villages - the deepest flooded areas - to safety. Students in Thuan Bac commune were notified to be off school on the morning of November 17.

Mr. Hung said that the locality has deployed forces to block off deeply flooded areas, while continuously updating flood developments and advising people to proactively move to ensure the safety of their lives and property.

On the morning of November 17, on the Ngoan Cach Pass, in Lam Son Commune (adjacent to Khanh Hoa - Lam Dong), 10 large and small landslides appeared, causing rocks and soil to overflow onto the road.

Currently, Road Traffic Police Team No. 1/27 in coordination with the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police has set up checkpoints, temporarily blocking vehicles at both ends of the pass, instructing vehicles to switch to safe routes.

Currently, the road management unit is mobilizing machinery and human resources to clear rocks and soil at 3 landslides that caused traffic jams, assessing the risk of further landslides.

The authorities recommend that people do not move through the Ngoan Truc Pass area until further notice.
