On the afternoon of July 9, in Quang Tri province, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology (S&T) organized a conference to summarize the trade union work in the first 6 months of the year and deploy key tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.
The unit is currently managing 200 grassroots trade unions with 82,548 union members. In the first 6 months of the year, trade union levels have focused on performing well the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers. To date, 146/200 agencies, units, and enterprises have organized conferences of officials, civil servants, public employees, and employee conferences (reaching a rate of 73%). The public non-business sector has achieved a rate of 100% (48/48 agencies) of organizing conferences of civil servants and public employees. The business sector has signed 152 collective labor agreements.
Activities to care for union members are implemented practically. On the occasion of Binh Ngo Tet 2026, the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union has supported and cared for union members with a total budget of more than 2.1 billion VND; visited and presented gifts to 1,458 union members in difficult circumstances. During Workers' Month 2026, trade union levels visited and supported more than 6,000 union members with a total budget of over 6 billion VND, supported the construction and repair of 9 "Trade Union Shelter" houses with a budget of nearly 1 billion VND.
In particular, in the emulation movement for good labor and creative labor, the entire industry had 4,812 topics, initiatives, and technical improvements recognized and put into application, bringing a profit of 272 billion VND. Also in 6 months, the unit has newly developed 233 union members and introduced 375 outstanding union members for Party consideration and admission.
Speaking to direct at the conference, Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed that the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union has proactively innovated its operating methods, taking union members and workers as the center; effectively deploying activities to care for and protect rights, and widely launching the emulation movement "Good Labor, Creative Labor".
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also acknowledged the industry trade union's leadership in building digital trade unions, applying digital technology, artificial intelligence and popularizing digital skills for officials and union members.
Regarding the tasks for the last 6 months of the year, the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union continues to concretize the congress resolution with substantive results, promote its pioneering role in innovation and digital transformation; promote the building of digital trade unions, digital union members, and standardize data for management. At the same time, focus on improving the quality of trade union officials, better caring for the material and spiritual life of union members, strengthening dialogue and negotiation to improve salaries, benefits, and initiative bonuses suitable to the capacity of enterprises.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also emphasized the effective implementation of the emulation movement "Good labor, high productivity, good income", associated with digital transformation, innovation and improving income and working conditions for workers; and at the same time innovating emulation and commendation work in a practical and timely direction, strongly focusing on grassroots levels and direct workers.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and presenting a number of meaningful and practical papers revolving around solutions to improve the quality of grassroots trade union activities, promote the emulation movement to apply digital technology and improve the effectiveness of union member development.
At the same time, the conference also announced and awarded decisions of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the transfer and appointment of comrade Nguyen Anh Tho - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Science to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the title of Vice President of the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union.
On this occasion, the conference announced the decision to award the Emulation Flag of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to excellent units; awarded Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in advising, serving and organizing the implementation of activities at the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress.
