Focus on developing union members
Binh Duong ward is one of the localities with the most industrial parks in the North of Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, Binh Duong ward has 8 industrial parks and clusters with 1,522 units and enterprises with 80,611 workers and laborers.
Developing union members is considered one of the key tasks of the Binh Duong Ward Union for the 2025 - 2030 term.
Mr. Pham Tuan Tu - Chairman of Binh Duong Ward Trade Union - said that the unit set a target of establishing 20 grassroots trade unions each year and developing 1,000 new union members. Strive for at least 95% of workers working in state-owned units, organizations and enterprises to be union members.
Meanwhile, Tan Dong Hiep ward has a population of about 100.243 people. In the ward, there is only Tan Dong Hiep B industrial park with 45 grassroots unions and 7,674 union members. Notably, there are many enterprises interspersed with residential areas in the ward.
According to statistics, the ward still has 65 grassroots unions outside the industrial park with 16,865 union members. In addition, many enterprises with a workforce of 20 or more employees have not yet established grassroots unions. In the coming time, the Ward Trade Union will strengthen the development of organizations and union members, striving to mobilize the establishment of grassroots unions in 100% of enterprises with 10 or more employees. At least 1 grassroots union is established each year in areas with a large number of freelance workers. Strive to admit at least 500 new union members during the term, contributing to expanding the force and strengthening the increasingly strong union organization" - Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien - Vice Chairman of the Tan Dong Hiep Ward Union - said.
Deploying measures to care for disadvantaged workers
According to records, the situation of workers in the North of Ho Chi Minh City has recently been relatively stable, with few cases of large-scale work stoppages. However, the lives of workers still face many difficulties, especially illegal workers.
Tan Dong Hiep Ward Trade Union said that near Tet 2026, the unit will focus on caring for, representing and comprehensively protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers. Review and promptly grasp unfortunate cases of accidents and serious illnesses to visit and recommend that the higher-level trade union provide additional support.
In Binh Duong ward, in recent times, the Ward Union has organized many notable activities such as: Organizing a morning coffee program to discuss with union officials in enterprises in the ward; launching a model of a support group for digital transformation of Binh Duong Ward Union; giving support gifts to union members in difficulty; mobilizing 5 grassroots unions to organize "Union Meals". Binh Duong Ward Labor Union also coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward to launch the " caring park" model, giving 40 gifts and cash worth a total of 54 million VND to union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
At the end of the year, the ward union continues to coordinate with units to implement socialization programs to diversify support sources for union members in difficulty. In particular, focusing on supporting union members and workers facing difficulties, diseases of theology, emergency care, and work-related accidents.
In Bau Bang commune, the commune union informed that the unit had gone to the grassroots to listen to and grasp the aspirations of workers.
Mr. Luu The Thuan - Chairman of Bau Bang Commune Trade Union - said that the lives of workers are still facing many difficulties, especially illegal workers. The commune union will negotiate with the grassroots union so that the enterprise can provide additional support for accommodation, allowances for diligence, allowances for young children, etc. to share difficulties with workers.
In addition, it is recommended that the locality open more kindergartens to meet the needs of childcare for workers to work with peace of mind, and at the same time, it is recommended that the locality strengthen security solutions at boarding houses to protect the health and property of workers. Currently, the Commune Union is planning to prepare for Tet for union members in difficulty.
