At the invitation of the Central Committee of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions (LFTU), Comrade Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to visit and work in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, from November 11-15, 2025.
Within the framework of the visit, on November 12, in the capital Vientiane, Laos, comrade Vilay Vongkhaseum - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Lao Trade Union Federation welcomed and chaired talks with Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung.
Comrade Vilay highly appreciated the official visit to Laos, emphasizing that this is an important event in the relationship between trade unions of the two countries, especially as soon as the 9th National Trade Union Congress of Laos took place from October 27 to 28, 2025.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Hung expressed his pleasure at meeting Comrade Vilay again, and conveyed congratulations to the Congress of Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang, President of the General Confederation of Labor, to Comrade Leth Xayyaphone, member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of LFTU and the LFTU leadership.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Hung also shared with Comrade Vilay some information about Vietnam's socio-economic development situation and outstanding activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in 2025 as well as important operational orientations in the coming time.
Sharing with the delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, comrade Vilay expressed his joy at the outstanding achievements and activities of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. He highly appreciated the role and position of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which has effectively implemented activities for union members and workers, and affirmed that the Central Committee of the Lao Trade Union Federation will always accompany and support the Vietnam Trade Union.
The two sides agreed to continue implementing the Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Central Committee of the Lao Trade Union Federation for the 2023-2028 period; conduct a preliminary review and evaluate the results of the implementation of this agreement in 2026 and discuss a number of important orientations on trade union relations between the two countries in the coming time. Within the framework of the visit and work in Laos, the delegation visited and worked with the Champasack Provincial Trade Union Federation, Dao Coffee Company and Paksong Tea Cooperative.
The visit and work in Laos by the delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor was a great success, contributing to the effective implementation of the foreign orientation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation with the policy of promoting in-depth and effective relations with trade unions of neighboring countries sharing borders and having a political system similar to Vietnam; strengthening propaganda and education for generations of trade union officials and young trade union members about the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries of Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam.
