The meeting was held on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025).
Attending were Mr. Pham The Duyet - former Politburo member, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, former Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and former members of the Party Central Committee, former Chairmen of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor: Ms. Cu Thi Hau, Mr. Dang Ngoc Tung and former Vice Presidents of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor through the periods.
Attending the meeting were Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong; Vice Presidents of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor: Phan Van Anh, Huynh Thanh Xuan, Ngo Duy Hieu, Nguyen Xuan Hung.
At the meeting, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong presented a Summary Report on the results of trade union activities in the first 6 months of the year, key tasks for the last 6 months of 2025.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Hung presented a Report on some results of the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus and staffing and a Report on the implementation of policies and regimes for full-time trade union officials signing professional and technical labor contracts.
Accordingly, one of the outstanding activities is the Presidium and Executive Committee focusing on leading trade unions at all levels to continue implementing and concretizing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Program No. 02/CTr-BCH dated July 20, 2021 of the Executive Committee of the General Confederation of Labor, the theme of trade union work in 2025 is "Focusing on developing union members; participating in building a clean and strong Party", promulgating and organizing the dissemination and implementation of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Charter, Guidelines for implementing the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Charter; implementing the streamlining of the organizational apparatus associated with the structure of the cadre team according to the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee...
Focus on researching and participating with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations in proposing the content of amending and supplementing a number of provisions of the 2013 Constitution related to trade union organizations, coordinating the development and completion of the Law dossier amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Law on Trade Unions, the Law on Youth and the Law on Implementing Democracy at the Grassroots Level to submit to the National Assembly for comments at the 9th session to institutionalize the policy of arranging and streamlining the organization of the political system while continuing to promote the role of the trade union organization, operating effectively and efficiently, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new era...
Specifically, the theme for 2025 "Focusing on developing union members; participating in building a clean and strong Party" and the goal of actually increasing 1.650 million union members, with the efforts of trade unions at all levels, the whole country admitted 480,616 new union members, the number of union members actually increased by 245,988 union members, reaching 14.91% compared to the annual target. There are 2,369 newly established grassroots trade unions. Introduce 54,000 outstanding union members to the Party for consideration of training and admission. Of which, the number of outstanding union members introduced by the Union who have been admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam is 21,145 comrades.
In the last 6 months of the year, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will continue to innovate and streamline the organization of the Vietnam Trade Union system to operate effectively and efficiently according to the direction of the Central Government.
Strengthen propaganda, raise awareness and responsibility of union officials and the participation of union officials at all levels in the process of streamlining the apparatus, streamlining the payroll, ensuring the regime, policies and rights of cadres, civil servants and employees.
Review, amend and supplement promptly the regulations, rules, directives and instructions of the Trade Union organization, ensuring suitability, unity and synchronization for implementation. In addition, strengthen guidance and support for grassroots trade unions to effectively perform their role as employee representatives, focusing on: Dialogue at the workplace, negotiation, signing, implementation of Collective Labor Agreements, participation in implementing democracy at the grassroots level, regular attention to the situation of labor relations, the situation of worker security...
Speaking at the meeting, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang expressed his wish to receive comments and contributions from union leaders through the ages.
Union leaders through the periods also gave their opinions to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; hoping that union activities will continue to bring more rights and benefits to union members and workers in the coming time.
