The Da Nang City Labor Federation (DOLF) strengthens skills in preventing and combating high-tech crimes for union members and workers in the area.

Be more vigilant and proactive

Recently, at Germton Industrial Company Limited (Dong Que Son Industrial Park, Da Nang City), the City Labor Federation coordinated with the City Police to organize a conference to propagate the prevention and combat of high-tech crimes for 300 union members and employees of the company. Attending the conference were Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Oanh - Deputy Head of the Trade Union of Da Nang Industrial Parks; Captain Pham Van Tinh - Officer of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, reporter of Da Nang City Police.

At the conference, Captain Pham Van Tinh shared a lot of useful information about fraud tricks through social networks, instructed on skills to identify, combat, and denounce violations of the law in cyberspace, and at the same time provided preventive measures and response when encountering sophisticated forms of fraud.

A similar conference was also organized by the Da Nang City Labor Federation in coordination with the City Police at Rieker Vietnam Shoes Company (Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park), attracting 300 union members and workers to participate. And according to Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Oanh, in the coming time, the Da Nang City Labor Federation will continue to organize a conference to promote the prevention and control of high-tech crimes at Germton Industrial Company Limited (phase 2) on October 24.; RGM Da Nang Company Limited (Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park) on October 25 and Murata Manufacturing Vietnam Company Limited (Hoa Khanh Industrial Park) on October 30.

Through this series of activities, the Da Nang City Labor Federation hopes to help union members and workers raise awareness, be more vigilant and proactive in protecting personal information, preventing risks when transacting, using social networks and applying technology - Ms. Oanh said.

Many opportunities, but also many risks

At the seminar on strengthening coordination between the Trade Union organization and the People's Public Security force in ensuring security and safety for workers organized by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Ha - Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - said that workers are always threatened by criminals, especially high-tech criminals.

Recognizing the security situation among workers, the important role of the Trade Union organization and the challenges, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has carried out many activities to ensure security and safety for workers in various forms.

In Da Nang, the local Trade Union organization is currently managing 258 grassroots unions with more than 87,000 union members and workers. In recent times, high-tech crimes, drug crimes, "black credit" crimes... are not non-invasion of the working environment. However, the authorities have only recorded small cases, not large-scale cases, causing serious consequences.

According to Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Oanh, this comes from many reasons, including the important reason that for many years, the Trade Union has always coordinated with local police forces to organize periodic and regular propaganda sessions to prevent and combat crimes for union members and workers in enterprises.

In the context of strong technological development as it is today, cyberspace opens up many opportunities for union members and workers but also has many potential risks. Therefore, equipping union members and workers with knowledge and skills to prevent and combat high-tech crimes is extremely necessary.

In the coming time, the City Labor Federation will continue to regularly coordinate with competent agencies to promote propaganda, helping union members proactively identify, prevent and become safe digital citizens in the new era - Ms. Oanh said.
