Stabilizing life thanks to a new house
For many years, the family of Ms. La Thi Luyen (in Noong Don village, Khanh Yen Thuong commune, Van Ban district) has often had to live in temporary conditions. Every time it rains, the whole house leaks. In particular, every storm and flood season makes the family always have to worry.
From the State's support budget of 60 million VND, along with the relatives' working days, the cooperation of the neighbors, the family's new house is gradually being completed. "We are very grateful to the State and organizations for caring about our lives and supporting the family with funding to build a new place to live. With a spacious and solid house, my family will not have to worry about rain or wind but can focus on doing business to stabilize our lives" - Ms. Luyen expressed.
Implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Khanh Yen Thuong commune has 30 households receiving support for house building in 2024. The locality has now disbursed funds to 27 households to speed up the construction progress. In 2025, the commune will have 3 more households to renovate and 7 households to repair their houses. Authorities at all levels have flexibly removed problems with land procedures, speeding up the disbursement of support.
Vice Chairman of Khanh Yen Commune People's Committee Thuong Phan Trong Quang said: "With socialized resources and support from the Party and the State, the locality also directed villages and hamlets to help households implement the temporary house removal program. Currently, the support has been completed, and the remaining 2 households will be completed in June 2025".
Through research, in the period of 2024-2025, Van Ban district has 816 houses that need support to build new ones and repair them. Currently, the district has eliminated 545 temporary and dilapidated houses out of a total of 816 approved houses. The locality will start construction of 228 houses, striving to complete before June 2025.
Chairman of Van Ban District People's Committee Ngo Hoai Linh shared: "Ensuring the spiritual life of the people has also been strongly directed by leaders at all levels and achieved many results. The work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, and people with revolutionary contributions has become a widespread movement in all localities.
The cooperation of the whole system
However, the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Lao Cai province still faces some obstacles due to large-scale, wide-range implementation, difficult traffic infrastructure, lack of labor, materials, urgent time, etc.
But with the motto "leaving no one behind", right from the launch of the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Lao Cai has identified this as a key task, requiring the participation of the entire political system.
In addition, mass organizations such as the Fatherland Front, Women's Union, Veterans Association, Youth Union, etc. all have developed their own action plans, mobilized members and union members to actively participate, thereby helping movements quickly spread widely, creating a combined strength.
One of the bright spots in Lao Cai's approach is the flexible and creative mobilization of resources. In addition to the State budget support, the province has mobilized businesses, organizations and individuals with goodwill to join hands to contribute. Thanks to that, many localities have completed 100% of the plan to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses such as Si Ma Cai district with 628/628 houses, Bao Thang with 147/147 houses, and Sa Pa town with 367/367 houses.
According to Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, the goal is that by the end of May 2025, the whole province must complete support for building new and repairing houses for households with meritorious services to the revolution, poor and near-poor households with about 5,000 houses. The Lao Cai Provincial Party Secretary requested localities to continue to closely follow regulations, remove difficulties and obstacles related to land, and speed up the process of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
According to statistics from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the total number of houses to be implemented in the 2024-2025 period according to the Adjustment and Supplementation Project is 11,024 houses, including 7,743 new houses; 3,281 houses repaired. To date, the whole Lao Cai province has started construction, eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for more than 8,200 poor households, reaching over 74% of the plan for the period 2024 - 2025.
Despite many difficulties, with the participation of the whole community and the determination of authorities at all levels, the work of eliminating temporary houses in Lao Cai is being accelerated with the goal of settling down and stabilizing people's lives.
