No more worries about "every rainy season"
In Ward 8, Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province, the new house of Mr. Le Van Dong (72 years old, war invalid 1/4) is gradually being completed.
Seeing the roof covered with corrugated iron and new walls, Mr. Dong could not hide his emotions and shared: "Without the help of the government, my wife and I would still be living in a dilapidated house, every time it rains and is windy, we can only pray to heaven".
Mr. Dong said that his wife's house was built about 30 years ago. Therefore, the roof and walls have degraded and are severely damaged. Every rainy season, water floods into the house, the roof leaks, the floor is deeply flooded and muddy. The couple lived in a shabby house, without conditions to repair it, and the house continued to rot over time.
Ms. Vo Thi Bich Thuy - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ward 8 (Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province) said: Through review, there are 20 households in the area with especially difficult circumstances, policy households, ... Up to now, the locality has had a source of funding to support 6 households. Of which, 3 houses are being completed for handover before April 30, 2025, the remaining 3 houses will be completed and handed over before June 30, 2025.
According to Ms. Thuy, there are 14 households with difficult housing circumstances but do not have a source of support funding. The locality is mobilizing people, philanthropists, and benefactors to join hands to contribute to the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for these households.
"Not only stopping at supporting money to build houses, the locality also mobilizes organizations such as the Fatherland Front, youth, militia, women's unions, unions... to participate in building, from foundation work, material transportation to completing the house. Thereby, saving costs and helping people have more spacious places to live," said Ms. Thuy.
Towards the goal of "no one is left behind"
