According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Kien Giang province, the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province is being implemented very positively. As of April 18, 2025, there are currently no subjects that need housing support for meritorious people after the review.
Regarding housing for poor and near-poor households, the total number of started projects is 2,801/2,799 units, reaching 100.07%. 2,405/2,799 units have been completed and handed over and put into use, reaching 85.92%. Of which, construction of new units has started: 2,341/2,314, reaching 101.16%; Repair of 460 only 50%, reaching 100%; 411/460 units have been completed, reaching 90%.
The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee said that the figure decreased by 25 houses because while waiting for support, some households had been supported by benefactors and relatives, so the figure decreased to 460 houses.
Mr. Ngo Phuong Vu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee said: At the launching ceremony held in 2024, Kien Giang province received support funds from business organizations inside and outside the province to build 600 solidarity houses for poor households, with an amount of 30 billion VND. These houses have been completed.
In addition, the locality mobilized funds to support households in difficult circumstances with 241 houses. 15/15 districts and cities also committed to completing before April 30, 2025.
The province has disbursed more than 148 billion VND to localities at the request of the District Steering Committee; transferred more than 2.6 billion VND to Rach Gia City in advance in 2 installments. The districts have disbursed 100% of the implementation cost.
Mr. Ngo Phuong Vu also said: The implementation program is favorable as the leadership and direction of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the coordination of the provincial People's Committee and related branches, the support of business organizations inside and outside the province to support the funding for the emulation movement "Delete temporary houses, dilapidated houses" in the province. The participation of the entire political system, the agreement and support of the people of all strata, promoting the synthesis strength, arousing the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, supporting each other, maintaining the affection, solidarity among the people.
The program supports the erasing of temporary houses and dilapidated houses to create conditions for the poor to have a stable place to accommodate, contributing to firmly firmly to build new rural construction criteria of the province; Strengthen the close relationship between the political system and the people.
Mr. Vu also said: “From now until the end of the month, you will monitor, inspect and urge the implementation progress to meet the requirements; management of the fund is strict, ensuring publicity and transparency; inspecting and supervising the construction progress to promptly report to the provincial Steering Committee.
