Using union financial resources to care for workers
On December 7, Mr. Uong Quang Huy - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - said that, implementing Plan No. 34/KH-TLD dated October 15, 2025 of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued a Plan to organize activities to care for union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026.
According to the leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the subjects of care during Tet are all union members and employees, in which priority is given to union members and employees in especially difficult circumstances, those who have had work accidents, occupational diseases, serious illnesses, affected by natural disasters, floods; union members and employees from policy families, ethnic minorities; union members and employees staying at their units and enterprises to work, produce and do business during Tet.
Trade unions at all levels will organize diverse and flexible forms of care, focusing on the grassroots, paying attention to and supporting union members and workers living and working in remote, isolated, border, island areas, and areas with difficult socio-economic regions. Caring activities must ensure practicality, safety, efficiency, economy, compliance with regulations, creating a joyful atmosphere, towards the 7th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the 2025 - 2030 term.
With the motto "All union members and employees have Tet, enjoy Tet", the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will coordinate with the professional organization to organize activities to care for and encourage union members and employees to maintain production, ensure safe and continuous power supply, and avoid subjective incidents to serve production and people's daily needs during the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year.
"Accordingly, the allocated amount and support level are as follows: The number does not exceed 12% of the total number of union members directly managed by the unit; the maximum support level does not exceed 1,000,000 VND/person, paid in cash. For units facing financial difficulties, report directly to the higher-level trade union for consideration of support. It is expected that more than 10,000 members and employees will be visited and supported by the electricity industry union during the Lunar New Year 2025" - Mr. Uong Quang Huy said.
Union supports Shelter members at the end of the year
One of the outstanding activities of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor at all levels to take care of members and employees at the end of the year is the activity of giving support to the Trade Union Shelter.
The Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI) Trade Union has organized a fund-raising ceremony to support the repair of Trade Union Shelters for union members in difficult circumstances at Hanoi Power Experience Company.
Mr. Doan Duc Tien - Chairman of EVNHANOI Trade Union - presented 30 million VND to support house repair for Ms. Vo Thi Huong, a union member of Hanoi Electricity Experience Company. She is a single mother raising two young children alone, she herself is sick and needs prolonged treatment, her family and children are living in a dilapidated apartment building.
Receiving support from the Trade Union organization, Ms. Huong emotionally shared: Thanks to the attention of the Trade Union, my mother and I have more stable accommodation at the end of the year. This is the motivation for me to try harder in work and life.
In mid-November 2025, authorized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vinh Long Power Company Trade Union held a ceremony to attach the signs of 2 Trade Union Shelters to union members, Mr. Ho Hai - a driver of the General Team and Mr. Nguyen Van Phong - a worker of the Management and Operation Team. Each union member's family is supported with 60 million VND, a total cost of 120 million VND.
In 2025, the Vinh Long Power Company's Trade Union was supported by the Vietnam Power Union with 9 Trade Union Shelters, with a total cost of 540 million VND; to date, 8 units have been completed, according to the plan, the remaining house will be completed by the end of December 2025.
"The Trade Union Shelter Program is an annual activity, imbued with the humanistic values of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor at all levels, contributing to practical and timely support for union members and workers facing housing difficulties, especially in preparation for Tet and Spring" - Mr. Uong Quang Huy shared.
