Both recruiting new and training
Recently, many garment enterprises in Can Tho City have recorded stable orders, even tending to increase. This leads to demand for labor recruitment, especially unskilled labor, to meet the production expansion plan in 2026.
Mr. Quach Minh Thao - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Tri - Viet International Co., Ltd. (Can Tho City) - said that the enterprise is currently building more factories in Vinh Long province to meet the demand for orders in the coming time. When the new facility goes into operation, the company will need to add a large number of workers.
The facility in Can Tho is almost out of capacity, so we are expanding the factory to Vinh Long. When the new factory is completed and put into operation, businesses will need to recruit more workers to serve production" - Mr. Thao said.
It is expected that in the near future, the company will recruit about 70 workers in Can Tho and about 100 workers in Vinh Long. Most of these are general laborers and the recruitment is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2026.
According to Mr. Thao, skilled labor in the garment industry is still scarce. Therefore, many businesses choose to recruit unskilled workers and organize retraining to meet production requirements. Depending on each stage, the training time can be extended from 3-6 months.
Regarding income, according to Mr. Thao, the average salary of workers after including overtime is currently about 7-8 million VND/month. For workers who work overtime for many hours or have good productivity, income can reach 9-10 million VND/month.
Diverse forms of connection
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chung - Deputy Director of the Can Tho City Employment Service Center - said that after the Lunar New Year holiday, the number of workers coming to register for counseling and job search at the center increased significantly compared to before Tet, mainly concentrated in the fields of production, trade - services and unskilled labor. This shows that the local labor market entered a vibrant phase right from the first months of the year.
According to the center's statistics, some industries with high recruitment demand include: General labor in the garment industry about 2,500 people, food processing about 2,000 people, technology motorbike drivers about 500 people. In addition, positions such as garment workers, paint sprayers, five-metal processing, assembly and packaging of children's toys, garment workers also need to recruit hundreds of workers. Some other industries such as Class C drivers, roller drivers, excavators, bulldozers are also in need of more labor to serve production and transportation activities.
To support workers in finding jobs quickly, the unit has implemented many solutions to connect labor supply and demand, from direct to online forms. In the first months of 2026, the center will especially promote the organization of mobile job transaction sessions in many localities in the city" - Ms. Chung shared.
Instead of waiting for workers to come to the center, transaction sessions are organized directly in communes and wards such as O Mon, Cai Rang, Phong Dien, Thoi Lai, Vinh Thanh... helping people easily access recruitment information from businesses.
