Changes to adapt
Ms. Cao Thi Cham - administrative and human resources staff of Duc Minh Production and Trading Company Limited (Hanoi) - said: The company has many orders and is also expanding its scale, so it needs to recruit 40-50 people for different positions, from unskilled workers to accountants and managers. The salary offered ranges from 8-12 million VND/month for unskilled workers, while management positions can range from 13-17 million VND/month, or even higher if they have experience. However, despite the high recruitment demand, the company still has difficulty finding the right person.
To adapt, the company has proactively changed recruitment policies, proposed increasing benefits, increasing income levels and especially proposed building housing for workers to attract workers from remote localities to work.
From another perspective, Ms. Tran Thi Huyen - Deputy Head of Human Resources Department of Seen Technical Joint Stock Company (Ba Dinh, Hanoi) - said that the decisive factor for retaining workers is not machinery or technology, but people.
The company is recruiting about 50 employees for many positions such as electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, construction designer, environmental technology, purchasing, operation, mechanical electricity. However, because of the specific nature of production in the wastewater treatment sector, it is very difficult to find specialized people, said Ms. Huyen.
To attract candidates, in addition to the salary policy, this company also invests in benefits such as revenue bonuses, social insurance contributions, 24/7 accident insurance, regular health check-ups, and annual travel.
Recruitment is difficult, retaining workers is even more difficult
Mr. Nguyen Tay Nam - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs - said: In the context of the employment market showing signs of improvement but not uniformly, many workers, especially female workers and new graduates, are still struggling to find a suitable position. Meanwhile, businesses are "thirsty" for unskilled human resources and skilled workers, but recruitment is difficult, retaining is even more difficult.
Developing the labor market and creating jobs for workers is one of the key tasks to achieve the GDP growth target of 8% in 2025. In particular, improving the efficiency of the job exchange system, including satellite points, is key in connecting labor supply and demand, said Mr. Nam.
Mr. Nam noted that businesses need to change their approach, from simply "requiring skills" to "accepting retraining", building a humane working environment, good treatment and long-term cohesion.
According to Mr. Nam, job fairs are places where workers, especially young workers, receive vocational counseling, job training, labor export connections and access comprehensive information about the job market.
